It is with sympathy, the management and staff of Slater's Funeral Home, Inc. announce the passing of Mr. Willie A. Simmons, Milledgeville, Georgia. Mr. Simmons passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2023.
Funeral Services were held on Friday March 3, 2023, at 11AM from the EL Bethel Baptist Church, Milledgeville, GA. Interment followed the services in the Baldwin Memorial Park, Milledgeville.
Mr. Willie Alvin Simmons was born at home, in Milledgeville, Ga, on December 16, 1966 to the late George and Annie Lois Simmons. He was proceeded in death by his older sister Belinda Simmons, and daughter Amorè Brown.
Willie attended Baldwin County school system, where he graduated Baldwin High School with the class of 1985. He was known for his drawings and paints and was asked to sketch and paint the mascot for the Boddie Rattler's.
Willie was a family man and a man of the community, being that he was loved by many. During family functions all the kids would gravitate towards him bc he was so fun, creative, and full of life. He had a heart of Gold and a comedic sense of humor and didn't mind sharing it with others. He was a mobile barber for over 20 years and passed his skills down to his nephews. For his nieces and nephews, Willie was everything. Spending time with them and helping raise them was one of his many selfless acts. One of his favorite things to do was to simply, ride around Milledgeville and check on his people. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.
Willie returned home on February 26, 2023 at the Piedmont hospital in Macon, GA.
Willie will be cherished in memory by the ones who loved him, including his two children Jessica Brown and Darius Simmons, and grandchildren Brandon Brown and Bryson Brown of Milledgeville, Ga; 4 brothers Edward (Brenda) Simmons, Ronnie Simmons, Barry (Sandra) Simmons, Vincent (Yvonne) Simmons, 4 sisters Carolyn (Todd) Claybourne, Annie (Greg) Flournoy, Bertha Simmons, Katrina Simmons, one aunt Udene Byrd, of Uvalda, Ga; and several nieces, nephews, cousins/relatives and a devoted friend Gerald Jackson amongst many more.
