Ms. Willie "Frankie" Hicks, Sandersville, Georgia passed away Friday, August 21, 2020 at her residence. 

Graveside services were held on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 11:00 AM from the Neeler AME Church Cemetery, Davisboro, Georgia.

Willie F Hicks, affectionately known as Frankie by friends and Moot by family, was born in Davisboro, Georgia, June 18, 1946 to the parentage of Julius and Myrtice Fort. She was the second of 7 children. Frankie was preceded in death by her parents, her older sister, and brothers, Julius Jr. and Joe Louis Fort. Growing up in Sandersville, Georgia, Frankie was educated in the Washington County School system. She was a member of the class of ’64 at Thomas Jefferson Elder High School.

Frankie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized at Pine Hill Baptist Church in Davisboro, Georgia. She later mover her membership to Neeler AME church where she worshiped and served until her health failed.

Frankie was one of the first African Americans to be hired by retailers in Washington County and worked at Sandersville five and dime during the peak of the civil rights movement. After returning home to live, she obtained employment at Central State Hospital in Milledgeville, Georgia, where she worked as a Health Service Technician until she retired.

Frankie leaves to cherish her memory: a son Roderick (Denise) Fort, Sandersville, Georgia, daughter, Stephanie Faye Hicks (Sandersville, Georgia, 3 brothers, Larry (Cynthia) Fort, Stockbridge, Georgia, Charles Fort, Sandersville, Georgia and Darryl (Diane) Fort, McDonough, Georgia. Two Grand Children: grandson, Shaquan Hicks, Savannah Georgia, Patrice Fort, Sandersville, Georgia; five great-grand children, Shaquan Hicks Jr., Jaquan “Poo Poo” Hicks, Harper Hicks, Dolche Hicks, and Dior Hicks; two very close “sisterly cousins; Bernice Williams and Dorothy Gilmore and a host of other relatives and friends.
