Mr. Walter Lattimore, Jr., of Milledgeville, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at his residence.
Funeral services were held privately with family.
Mr. Walter Lattimore, Jr. was born on July 30, 1942 as the youngest of two children to the late Mr. Walter Lattimore, Sr. and Dorothy Grimes Lattimore in Milledgeville, Baldwin County, Georgia. Walter's formative years were spent in the county of his birth, where he attended public schools. He entered into the United States Army in 1962, serving in the Vietnam War, where he received an Honorable Discharge. Walter was a faithful employee of the State of Georgia, culminating with his retirement from the Central State Hospital in Milledgeville, Georgia. Along with his wife, he was also the owner/operator of a local barbecue restaurant. He was a member of the Wesley Chapel AME Church, while also periodically attending Flagg Chapel Baptist Church for worship. He was a dedicated member of the Esquire Men's Club and a lifetime member of The American Legion Post #523.
On October 2, 1965, Walter was united in Holy Matrimony with the love of his life, Miss Frances Lolita Swint. Their union was blessed with three beautiful children. Walter was a devoted family man, who loved and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
A man of may wise quotes and sayings, Walter's favorite saying was, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade." He had a fondness for history, particularly any involving African American studies, various wars and treasured stories of his hometown, Milledgeville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law, Lucille Swint, brother-in-law, Melvin Swint, and sister-in-law, Antoinette "Cookie" Swint Duru.
On Tuesday evening, May 12, 2020, Walter Lattimore peacefully transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home while surrounded by his loving family.
His memories will always be cherished and linger in the hearts of his family. He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of nearly 56 years, Frances Lolita Swint Lattimore; two daughters: Angela (Edrick) Adside, of Milledgeville, GA, Michele Kim Lattimore, of Macon, GA; one son, Kenneth Sean Lattimore,Sr., of Atlanta, GA; two grandsons: Brandon Hough, Kenneth Sean Lattimore, Jr.; four granddaughters: Keyarow Mosley, Allison Hough, Ayanna Smith, Emily Adside; one great granddaughter, Ava Peters; one sister, Mattie Seals; three sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
