Vivian Adams Obituary

It is with sympathy, the management and staff of Slater’s Funeral Home, Inc. announce the passing of Ms. Vivian C. Adams, 63, of Milledgeville, Georgia. Ms. Adams passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.

Celebration of life services were held by the family at 158 Ebony Lounge Road, Milledgeville, Georgia on Monday, January 10, 2022 at 2:00 PM.

Vivian S. Adams was born on January 26, 1958, to the parentage of the late, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny and Arlene Thomas, Sr. She was the sister of the late, Gwendolyn Thomas, Linda Diane Thomas and Johnnie Thomas Jr.

Vivian attended Baldwin County Public School System. She joined Green Pasture Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Reverend D.E. Gordon where she was a member of the junior choir. She eventually entered the work force and landed a job at Central State Hospital where she was a Health Service Technician for over 20 years until she was no longer able to physically work.

Vivian had a huge heart for everyone, especially for the youth. In 1981, she began sponsoring trips to Six Flags over Georgia and continued to do so until the early 2000's. She wanted to help children celebrate their summer vacation and to ensure they had wonderful memories. On her last trip for the youth, she had a total of 13 C & H buses full of excited children heading to Six Flags. She worked so hard to plan this trip and had the help and support of Baldwin County Courthouse and Post Office. They saw her efforts and wanted to assist to ensure all the children had their tickets and were able to join in on the fun. She will be truly missed for her work in the community.

Mrs. Vivian Adams is survived by her two sons, Douglas Ellison and Aundra Ellison (Lavonda); grandchildren, Maurice Jr., Skylar, Braxton, Graysen; brothers, Bruce Thomas (Evelyn), Richard Thomas, Charles Thomas; sisters, Gloria Davis, Janice Reeves; uncle, Frank O. Thomas; aunts, Rose L. Reeves, Laurette Rhodes; brothers-in-law, Rickey Adams (Sarah) and Johnny Adams; sisters-in-law, Gail Simmons, Lisa Adams, and Evangelist Estella Ellison; two devoted friends; her children's fathers, Ronny Adams and Douglas Ellison Sr.
