Mrs. Susie Holsey, of Sparta, Georgia passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at Navicent Health Baldwin, Milledgeville, Georgia.
Graveside services were held on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at 10:00 AM from the Walls Cemetery, Sparta, Georgia.
Our Dear Mother, Susie Barnes Holsey life began on May 6, 1929 in Devereux, GA to the late Eli Barnes and Bessie thW alls Barnes. She was the 9 child of their twelve children.
Susie Barnes Holsey accepted Christ at the age of fifteen years old at Jones Chapel AME Church in Devereux, GA, where she was a faithful member. She served in the Jones Chapel AME Senior Choir for many years. She was a member of the Powell Grove and Jones Chapel Society.
Susie Barnes Holsey attended the Sandy Run School for her education.
At the age of seventeen Susie found love and was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Ardell Holsey Sr. To this union seven children were born.
She was a devoted wife, a dedicated, caring, and loving mother. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as “Granny”. She had a vivacious personality and always made people she met feel loved.
Her memories will be cherished by her loving children, Louise Kendrick (Grady) of Macon, Ga, Dorothy Brown of Sparta, Ga, Ardell Holsey Jr. (Jeanette) of Milledgeville, Ga, Joe Holsey(Louise) of Milledgeville, Ga, Lonnie Holsey (Minnie) of Sparta, Ga, Lucious Holsey (Trina) of Milledgeville, Ga and Lesa Mallory of Sparta, Ga. 15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 3 great- greatgrandchildren; 4 sister in laws; Minnie Mae Barnes of Atlanta, Ga, Willie Gay Moore and Bessie Rollins (Melvin) of Cleveland, Ohio and Rutha Holsey of Macon, Ga. A special niece Virginia Harris of Detroit, Michigan. A special friend Luella Ingram, two devoted caretakers Gary Dupree and Gloria Simmons and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
