Mr. Steve Grant, Sandersville, Georgia departed this life on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the Washington County Regional Medical Center, Sandersville, Georgia.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 2:30 PM from the New Light Christian Fellowship Church, Warthen, Georgia. The interment followed in the Jordan Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Davisboro, Georgia.
Steve Matthew Grant Sr. was born on October 17, 1955 to the late Sylvaners Grant Sr and the late James Willie Whitfield-Grant in Jefferson County. On Saturday, January 25, 2020, God’s loving angels were directed to bring Steve home to a more peaceful and exhilarating place of rest.
In 1959 his family moved to Milwaukee, WI where he attended West Division High School. At the age of 17, he returned to Washington County, and upon his return he began his employment with Louis and Steel Company in Wrens GA. In 1974, he began his tenure with Cyprus Minerals, now known as Imerys Kaolin. Steve was the Production Supervisor as he provided 46 years of services. He was a member of St. Galilee Holy Fellowship Church where he served as the Assistant Sunday School Teacher.
Steve met Jewel Watts in 1972 and were united into marriage October 4, 1975. April 18, 2015, they renewed their vows modeling we are forever. Steve was a man who loved his Family, his community and notoriously known to brighten your day with laugher. His infectious smile touched the heart of many, and he will truly be missed.
Steve was preceded in death by his brothers, Sylvester Grant, Mr. Bobby Grant, Sylvaners Grant, Jr., Willie Grant and Isiah Grant and sisters, Amanda Lou Grant Braddy, Katie Mae Oglesby and Helen Grant Jordan.
Those who will be most profound deprived of the warmth of his pleasing personality and the strength of his noble character; his devoted wife of 45 years, Jewel Watts Grant; four sons, Lorenzo (Likithe) Watts Sr, Sandersville Ga, Steven (Camesha) Grant Jr., Tarrance (Antrice) Grant, Milledgeville Ga and Coran Lee of Statesboro GA; one daughter, Shakira (Quan) Reid Milledgeville Ga; two brothers Tommy (Cecila) Grant and Melvin Grant; two sisters, Mavis Grant and Bessie Lee Grant, Milwaukee WI; five grandchildren, Lorenzo Watts Jr., Zion Grant, Lathan Watts, Zuri Grant, Laila Watts; two sister-n-laws, Gail Watts and Hester (Elder Ulysses) Smith; three brother-n-laws, Lester (Helen) Watts, Trence Watts and Harvey Hamp Jr; devoted aunt Ethel Watts Yorker; god mother Manurvia Cummings; highly devoted friends Minister and Missionary Eddie J. and Georgette Dixon; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
