It is with our deepest sympathy that the management and staff of Slater’s Funeral Home, Inc announce the passing of Ms. Sarah Louise Lamar, 90 of Milledgeville, Georgia. Known to many as Ms. Louise passed away on Tuesday, January 4th, 2022.
Graveside services were held on Tuesday January 11, 2022 at 1:00 PM from the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Highway 49 west, Milledgeville Georgia 31061.
Ms. Louise was born in Monticello, Georgia to the parentage of the late Ms. Rosa Mae Douglas and Mr. Eugene Bebee. Ms. Louise completed her education in the Jasper County school system. At the age of 16 she married the late Mr. Ellis Lamar, Sr.
Ms. Lamar moved to Milledgeville Georgia where she was employed by Griffin’s Laundry and Dry Cleaning Services, however an opportunity came along and she took employment with the Central State Hospital. After sixteen years of loyal service to the state she became disabled and reluctantly had to retire.
Ms. Louise had always been a hard worker and was described by herself and others as self sufficient and independent, she was known to have taken care of her own business and didn’t like to bother people; but if she could help someone she would do her best to assist where she could.
Ms. Louise is survived by seven of her nine children, daughters Linden Louise Gilbert (late Willie Gilbert) and Elizabeth Lamar of Sparta, Georgia, five sons Ellis (Jimmy) Lamar, Jr of Macon Georgia, Calvin Lamar (Gladys) Sparta Georgia, Gary Lamar of Washington DC, Steve Lamar (late Shelly Lamar) of Maryland and Dariel Lamar (Latrisha) Maryland. Ms. Lamar was preceded in death by two daughters, LaVonne Lamar, Rosa Mae Reaves.
Ms. Louise is also survived by her sisters, Mrs. Alice Bebe Green (Calvin), of Gray, Georgia, Olena Bebe, of Warner Robins, Georgia; her brothers, Curtis Bebe, of Milledgeville, Georgia, Otis Bebe, of Macon, Georgia; one great uncle, Willie (WC) Cargile, of Warner Robins, Georgia and a host of Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a loyal friend, Ms. Clara Davis of Milledgeville, Georgia and the families of the late Ms. Willie Mae Stevenson and Ms. Liza Brown.
