It is with sympathy, the management and staff of Slater's Funeral Home, Inc. announce the passing of Ms. Ruth Curry, Milledgeville, GA. Ms. Curry passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at her residence in Milledgeville, GA. 

Funeral Services were held Monday February 13, 2023, at 2:00PM from the County Line Baptist Church, Haddock, Georgia. Interment will follow in the County Line Baptist Church Cemetery, Haddock, Georgia. 

Ruth Phillips Curry, better known as “Honey Gal”, gained her wings to glory on Tuesday, February 8, 2023, at her home in Milledgeville, GA. She was born July 4, 1925 in the Milledgeville, GA, to the parentage of the late Charlie and Lillie Green Phillips.

She was preceded in death by her husband Willie Curry; two sons, Julius and Tommy Lee Phillips; three brothers, Frank, Joseph, and Moses Phillips; three sisters, Catherine Brown, Gussie Green, and Ethel Brown.

Ruth received her education at County Line School in Milledgeville, GA. She was united in holy matrimony to Willie Curry on November 3, 1977. He was a dedicated stepfather to her two children and she was dedicated to her stepdaughter. Their marriage sustained until his demise. She joined County Line Baptist Church at an early age where she was a faithful member until her health failed. Ruth was a member of Sons of Wisdom & Daughters of Light Society.

She enjoyed riding on the passenger side of the car, going to yard sales with her sister, Beatrice and her neighborhood friends, Viola Rains, Ms. Jewell and Miss Ethel (both deceased), all of Macon, GA.

“Honey Gal” had a witty sense of humor that enlighten anyone that graced her presence. Her sense of humor and mental clarity remain with her up to her time of transition. She loved children, especially her nieces and nephews as they were her own. There is one special humble great nephew that was her heart, Desmond Mims, better known as “Bo Jack”; special great niece, Takeelamims, better known as “Pooh”. She loved from the bottom of her heart, her pastor, Pastor Burnest Glover and First Lady Sonja Glover .

She leaves to cherish her memory: one sister, Mrs. Beatrice Phillips Fleming of Milledgeville, GA; step-daughter, Sharon Jackson (William); four nieces as devoted caretakers, Barbara Thomas, Diane (Edwin) Bonner, Carolyn Simmons, Maggie Brisco, all of Milledgeville, GA; nieces, Dorothy Vinson (Walter), Geraldine Parker, Leola Rhoden, all of Macon, GA, Ruby Ingram, Gloria William, Louvenia Gray, Minister Mary Ann Reaves, all of Milledgeville, GA; nephews, Charlie Phillips, Johnny Fleming (Molly), Willie James Fleming, David Phillips, Charlie Randolf Phillips, all of Milledgeville, GA; a host of relatives and friends. A special thank you to the staff of Prime Care (Carolyn Simmons and Molly Fountain), caretaker, Susan Ransom and Peaceful Purpose Hospice (Tiffany Glenn).
