Mrs. Rosa Mae Hitchcock-McLean, of Milledgeville, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Navicent Health Baldwin, Milledgeville, Georgia.
Graveside services were held on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at 11:00 AM Pine Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, Milledgeville, Georgia.
Rosa Mae Hitchcock McLean was born on August 2, 1948 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie & Elthel Mae Hitchock, Sr. in Baldwin County, GA.
Rosa grew up in the Hitchcock Community where she helped with the family farm. She attended the public school system where she received her education. She later traveled to New York City where she started her work career with the United Postal Service. In 1972, she returned back to Georgia and started her lovely family. Upon returning back to the work force, she was employed at Forstman (formerly JP Stevens). She became a member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church where she attended.
We shall remember “Rose” as a sweet woman with a beautiful smile and a humble heart. She was an amazing woman that loved to cook for her family and friends.
The evening of July 21, 2020 she peacefully entered into rest from all of her labor. She had three siblings who preceded her in death: one sister, Mrs. Christine H. White; two brothers, Mr. Jimmie Hitchcock, Jr., and Mr. Joe E. Hitchcock.
Her loving memories will be cherished by her loving companion of twenty-six years, Mr. Richard Ford; four children, Mr. Howard (Tammy) Hitchcock of Hinesville, GA, First Lady Tracy (Pastor Korie) Baker of Macon, GA, Mr. Terry McLean of Milledgeville, GA, and Twanda McLean (Thomas Williams) of Alexandria, VA; twelve grandchildren: Tierra, Tekorean, Najee, Kiara, Brandon, Byren, Ahmadeo, Oscar, Aaron, Samohte’, Jahari, Nilah; seven great grandchildren, A’miya, A’nylah, Kason, Aziya, Arianna, Sa’Ryah, Amaiya, Ivy; six stepchildren, Tonia Ford Collins, Sabrina Ford, Candis Ford, Brittany Edwards, and Richard Ford, all of Macon, GA; nine step grandchildren and three preceded in her in death; one brother, Mr. Francis (Patricia) Hitchcock of Madison, GA; four sisters, Mrs. Ellen Hurt of Smyrna, GA, Ms. Lottie Mae Hitchcock, Mrs. Beola (James) Matthews, both of Milledgeville, GA, Ineal Sheats of Charlotte, North Carolina; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Nellie Hitchcock of Atlanta, GA; devoted nieces, Mrs. Beverly Owens of Irwinton, GA and Ms. Brenda Patton of Marietta, GA; a devoted friend, First Lady Clifford Austin; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive her.
