Robert Downing was born on June 29, 1945, in Milledgeville, GA.
He went to public school in Baldwin County. He enjoyed playing football at J.F. Boddie High School. After high school, he was drafted in the United States Army in 1969 during the Vietnam era. After completing his tour of duty, he returned from war and moved to Boston, Massachusetts. He proceeded to work with Polaroid, Inc. for almost thirty years. After retirement, he returned to Milledgeville, GA and began working as a forklift operator at Rheem Manufacturing Company until it closed. Afterwards, he began to enjoy his hobbies of fishing, watching sports on tv and playing the lottery. He enjoyed living his life everyday like it was his last.
