Rex Allen Lewis was born in Hancock County on October 22, 1957, to the late Cary and Stella Bryant Lewis. He transitioned peacefully on March 6, 2024.
During his childhood years, Rex attended Union Missionary Baptist Church with his family. He was known and loved throughout his community. He was educated in the Hancock County public school system and was a dedicated member of the Class of 1978. He was employed by Rheem Manufacturing Company for over 29 years, where he remained until its closure. He then went on to work for Goodyear of Social Circle and then Bluestem Brands of Eatonton Georgia until 2024.
Rex spent most of his evenings and weekends enjoying his family. He was an avid basketball and football fan and enjoyed watching those sports in the comfort of his home.
He was preceded in death by his daughter; Lateisha Walker; parents Carey and Stella Lewis, grandparents Eddie and Mozell Lewis, brother Carey Lewis, Jr; and sister Jo Anne Lewis.
His memories will be forever cherished by his devoted life partner, Yvette Roberson; his children Keyonna Lewis of Milledgeville, GA; Kimberly Wilson (Shaunya) of Macon, GA; Quantavious Walker of Atlanta, GA; Raven Walker, Natalian Andrews and Khamron Lewis, all of Milledgeville, GA; two bonus children, Vernon Moore of Columbus, GA and Kierra Butts (Chrydavrius) of Perry, GA; sisters, Elva Jean Warthen, Jeanette Lewis, Barbara Lewis, and Belinda Lewis, all of Sparta, GA, and Joyce (Donald) Brewer of Warrenton, GA; uncle, Cleveland (Carolyn) Lewis; aunts, Luerine (Thomas) Jackson of Sparta, GA, and Gladys Wright of Tampa, FL; twelve grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Rex was very quiet and a man of few words, but he always carried a huge smile. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.
