Rev. Kelvin Boyer, Sr., of Sandersville, Georgia transition from labor to reward on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at the Coliseum Medical Center, Macon, Georgia.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 2:00 PM from the Pine Hill Baptist Church Lawn, Davisboro, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Sandersville City Cemetery, Sandersville, Georgia. Public viewing will be held on Friday, May 14, 2021 from 3pm to 6pm from the Pine Hill Baptist Church, Davisboro.
Reverend Kelvin Boyer Sr. departed from this life on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at the Coliseum Medical Center in Macon, GA.
Kelvin was born to the parentage of Mr. James Carlos Boyer and the late Ms. Pauline Armstrong on December 7, 1965.
At an early age Kelvin would accompany his grandparents to church and joined the Springfield Missionary Baptist Church.
He attended the Washington County Public School System where he was a graduate of the Class of 1984. Kelvin was a member of various clubs and sports such as VICA, VOCA, JrROTC, and a Golden Hawk basketball player.
After graduating from high school, Kelvin, joined the United States Navy in September of 1984. There he actively served his country and traveled aboard the USS King DDG-41, which was one of his most treasured and fondest memories.
He married Sakethia Boyer in 1984 and to that union five beautiful children were born. They were devoted friends until his passing.
Upon his return from the Navy, Kelvin, joined the Bay Springs Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for well over a decade. He loved working with the youth and served as the youth Sunday school teacher, youth choir director, and he also trained the youth how to lead devotional service and pray.
He worked and served Washington County for many years as a school custodian, substitute teacher, and a recreation basketball coach. Teaching and coaching so many youth throughout the years brought so much joy to his life. He also enjoyed being a Navy Veteran, serving as a member of the Second Washington Baptist Association, being a Mason, and watching his Dallas Cowboys and Georgia Bulldogs.
He was ordained in Ministry on March 24, 2007 at his childhood church home of Springfield Missionary Baptist Church. He fell in love with and married his late wife, Kimberly Boyer, in 2007 and showered her with love until her passing. He was installed as the Pastor of Pine Hill Baptist Church on November 25, 2007. Under his leadership and guidance the following ministries were established: Men’s Ministry, Women’s Ministry, Helping Hand Ministry, Media Ministry, and a Hospitality Ministry. He lovingly served at Pine Hill as Pastor and as Associate Pastor of Springfield until his death.
He preceded in death by his wife: Mrs. Kimberly Story Boyer; mother: Ms. Pauline Armstrong; grandmothers: Mrs. Pecollia Boyer, Mrs. Mattie Armstrong; grandfathers: Mr. Riley Jack Armstrong, Mr. Holifield Boyer; sister: Felicia Boyer; devoted friend: Reverend Jerry Dudley.
Reverend Boyer leaves to cherish his memories: children: Ms. Shaurika Boyer, Ms. Tiffany Boyer, Ms. Katrina Boyer, Mr. Kelvin (Teherriah) Boyer, Mr. Atarice (Asia) Boyer; father: Mr. James Carlos Boyer; aunts: Mrs. Betty Sterling, Mrs. Nina Williams, Mrs. Betty Jackson; sisters: Ms. Angela Boyer, Ms. Christal Boyer; brothers: Mr. Carlos Boyer, Mr. Calvin Boyer: devoted friend: Ms. Sakethia Boyer; *Devoted caregivers/nurses: Mrs. Rhonda Tillman, Mrs. Elaine Baker, and Mrs. Heidi Clark; PineHill Church Family; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
