Rebecca Mason Obituary

Ms. Rebecca Mason, of Atlanta, Georgia originally of Milledgeville, Georgia entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 26, 2021 at Dekalb Medical Center, Decatur, Georgia.

Graveside services were held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 11:00 AM from the Dun Hill Cemetery, Milledgeville, Georgia. 

Miss Rebecca Mason, the daughter of Everan Mason-Mitchell and Immanuel Butts was born January 11th 1973 in Atlanta Georgia.

Rebcca Mason attended C. D. Hubert Elementary School in her early life. She went on to graduate from SouthSide High School in Atlanta Georgia. In effort to pursue a better life she went off  to Job Corp with her big sister. At the time her friend Richard convinced her to go to Edward Waters College. She went on to study business, and gained many friends and family at the HBCU that she loved. She earned her bachelor's degree in the year of 1996. In the Year 1997 she decided to move back to Atlanta Georgia.

On November 11th 1998, she was blessed with her first child Paul Anthony Mason. On April 3rd 2000 she was greeted by her second child James Tyler Mason.

Ms. Mason left an impact and kind words to everyone she met. She instilled core values that will live on through her son's Mr. Paul Anthony Mason and Mr. James Tyler Mason. 

Her memories will forever linger in the heart's of those she leaves behind: her only big brother, James (Willeta) Mason, sisters, Cinderella (Ralph) Burnett, and Olivia Hill. Also 1st cousin who was her sister, Christine (Jeffery) Finney, and college friend, Geraldine Hamilton. As well as an enormous family of cousins and friends such as Oscar Durham, Richard Foster, Ithaca Butts, and Tempest Coupe.

"Beck" as she was called by her family who knew her and loved her but to her friends she was known as "Lil Crazy". To the members of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church she was known by Rebecca. She was a passionate person that lives her life with love and laughter. She always lent a helping hand and warm words to anyone in need. All of those who knew her fell in love with her infectious laughter.

Rebecca Mason joined New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in 2001. She became a member in 2003. She was a devoted member who loved her Bishop Eddie L long. While attending New Birth Rebecca participated  in the women on the path discipline ship Ministry. There she was able to learn more about herself and grew tremendously spiritually. She also gained the ability to open her heart and let others in. And doing so developed a lasting friendship and gained a sister and Ithaca Butts.In 2012 she joined the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church Choir and was a member up until her passing.

She was a strong, independent, and hard-working woman who always made sure her children were taken care of. Miss Mason worked for 13 years up until her passing, helping foster children find homes.

Early Tuesday morning April 27th 2021, the Lord decided to call her home. She was passionate about her family, career, and her children. Rebecca was a Christ follower that found peace during her final days.
