Mr. Norris McNeil Miller Jr., amiably and respectfully known as “Neil” and “Officer Miller” was born on October 21, 1963, to the parentage of the late Dorothy Gray Miller and Norris Miller, Sr. in Milledgeville, GA.
He departed this life on February 1, 2026, to be with the lord leaving behind a legacy of bravery and compassion with the commitment to serve and protect others.
He graduated from Baldwin High School in 1982 and then attended Central Georgia Technical College, thereafter, starting his career at a young age in law enforcement.
Norris was a man of honesty, integrity and respect upholding high morals and standards in his personal and professional life. He was very passionate about his career in law enforcement serving over 40 years to communities all across Middle, GA. upholding the constitution and respect for human rights. He obtained multiple certifications and achievements throughout his lifetime. He approached every situation he faced with courage, strength and dignity.
He served as a former police officer at Central State Hospital, The Georgia College Department of Public Safety, Jones County Sheriff Department (deputy sheriff), Eatonton Georgia Police Department and the U.S. Marshall office as a court security officer. He was known as a committed and dedicated member of law enforcement retiring from both Central State Hospital & Georgia College department of public safety.
Norris believed in the Lord with all of his heart, strongly holding on to his faith and the promises of the Lord.
Beyond his service, he took great pleasure in road trips with New York City being one of his favorite cities to visit. His favorite holiday was Christmas, and he never missed a holiday or a birthday. He was a man that enjoyed a good laugh and a good joke. He kept his family updated on current news and events at all times and never missed a chance to update his loved ones on the weather and how to prepare for storms or inclement weather ahead. He was a man that loved and protected his family and was admired by his children with them seeing him as a loving and caring father and their own personal hero, always being there when they needed him. He will be remembered for his strength, warm heart, and the quiet sacrifice he made to keep his family and community safe. His upstanding character, smile and cheerful laugh will always be remembered by his family and former coworkers.
Preceding his death are his beloved parents Dorothy Gray Miller and Norris Miller, Sr. as well as brother Derrick Miller; and sister, Cynthia Miller.
Cherished memories shall also abide in the hearts his of his son, Mr. Norris Miller III (Adrianne); four daughters, Ms. Lakeisha Miller, Ms. Erica Miller, Mrs. Britany Wright (Creighton), Ms. Shabrina Miller; brother, Mr. William Miller; two sisters, Mrs. Debra Dawson (Adrian), Miss Michelle Copeland; eight grandchildren, Aniyah Smith, Jaliyah Miller, Nakyia Miller, Kiara Miller, Ariana Miller, Eriel Rozier, Emorie Rozier, Jace Wright; four great grandchildren; aunts, Mrs. Victoria Testamariam and Ms. Rosa Jeanette Hall, both of Springfield VA; uncle, Mr. Kirby Hall of Milledgeville, Georgia; nieces and nephews include Mr. Danny Sallad, Mr. Rodney Smith Jr., Ms. Hannah Dawson; great nieces & nephews, cousins and many devoted friends.
