It is with sympathy, the management and staff of Slater's Funeral Home, Inc. announce the passing of Mrs. Cynthia Bolston Smith, Milledgeville, Georgia. Mrs. Smith passed away on Friday November 4, 2022.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at 1:00 PM from the Green Pasture Baptist Church. Interment to follow from the Heritage Memorial Park Cemetery, Milledgeville, Georgia.
Cynthia Bolston- Smith, affectionately known as Slim, Cynt, and Granny, was born September 27, 1948, in Milledgeville, GA to the parentage of the late Mr. J.C. Bolston Sr. and Jessie “Grace” Kemp- Bolston. Cynthia spent most of her life in Milledgeville, GA; and attended Baldwin County public schools. She married the love of her life, the late Mr. Robert Louis Smith on July 4, 1981. She was employed at Central State Hospital for many years as a Food Service Technician and this was very fitting as she loved cooking and feeding all that she encountered. If you knew Slim, you knew she owned all the bragging rights for her signature dressing! She was also employed by McGraw Laboratories and Jet Food Store.
Strong willed and unfiltered, yet kind and sweet, to know Cynthia was to love her. She possessed the same unwavering love for her family and thanked God daily for them. She never met a stranger, and always had a hug, a smile, or a story to bring laughter and joy to those around her. She loved to fish, having cookouts, and throwing parties and most times you would see her take the dance floor when George Clinton's Atomic Dog would play. A God-fearing woman, mornings were dedicated to prayer, praise, and playing her gospel music, and on Sunday Bishop T was guaranteed to get a call from Cynthia to shout out her family and friends! In her last days, even with her health failing, Cynthia's loving and resilient spirit remained steadfast. She pressed on to be a part of her family's most recent life changing events from her oldest daughter's retirement to the birth of another great grand. God's favor brought her back home to hold her dog, Shebi Denise Smith. Cynthia was called home on November 4, 2022, and departed this life surrounded by what she loved most, family!
She was preceded in death by her son, Harold Brock. Whom she talked about dreaming of in the days before her departure. She described seeing Harold in heaven with her book of life in hand and him letting her know that her time is drawing near. Her siblings Grace Ann Alvin, Mary Louise Liggins, Doris Bolston and Dan Bolston. Her grandmother Mary Mims Bolston and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
Cynthia leaves behind a legacy to be told by two daughters, Anita Williams (Terrence) of Milledgeville, Ga and Tamika Brown (Angela) of Milledgeville, Ga; one brother, James's “Buddy” Bolston (Brenda) of Milledgeville, Ga. Two sisters in laws, Margaret Bolston, and Lorine Burton; one daughter in law, Renee Brock; one faithful and devoted son-in-law, Terrence Williams; Seven grandchildren, Konica Williams, Jasmine Walker, Jarvis Williams, Terrica Williams, Terrian Williams, Tamia Brock, Jahkylin Brock; nine great grandchildren, Javion Dillard, Janiya Williams, Kingston Hart, Tydarrus Johnson Jr, Jahanna Williams, Kennedy Hart, Ariyah Massey, Gianna Flowers and Aamori Nash.
