It is with sympathy, the management and staff of Slater's Funeral Home, Inc. announce the passing of Mr. Johnnie Lee Sampson, Tennille, Georgia. Mr. Sampson passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, July 29, 2022, at the Navicent Health Macon, Georgia.
Graveside services were held on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 10:00 AM from the Sampson Family Cemetery in Harrison, Georgia.
On Friday evening, July 29, 2022 our dear loved one Johnnie Lee Sampson took his last breath.
He was born on June 11, 1948 to the parentage of the late Mr. Henry Sampson Sr. and the late Mrs. Essie Lee Cordy Sampson.
He was preceded in death by his brothers: Mr. James Sampson Sr. and Henry Sampson Jr. as well as his sister: Mrs. Gloria Gilmore.
Johnnie was known for writing in his notebooks, having a bible with him, dancing, singing, and interacting with people. Overall, he loved to have fun and laugh as much as he could. Johnnie enlisted into the Air Force on August 1, 1973 and was honorably discharged on April 3, 1975. During his time in the service he was stationed in California and Guam. He served in WWII (Vietnam War). He also wrote many articles for The Sandersville Progress and The Spotlight.
He is survived by his sister: Inethia(Eddie) Williams, two sisters-in-law: Betty Sampson and Emmie Sampson all of Harrison, GA. A host of nieces, nephews, cousin and other relative and friends.
