Mr. Baldwin Barnes

It is with sympathy, the management and staff of Slater's Funeral Home, Inc. announce the passing of Mr. Baldwin "Troy" Barnes, Milledgeville, Georgia. Mr. Barnes passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022.

Funeral Services were held on Friday, July 29, 2022, at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of All Faiths, Milledgeville, Georgia. Interment followed from the Hickory Cemetery, Sparta, Georgia.

Baldwin Bernard Barnes was born January 14, 1965, to the parentage of the Late Willie B. Barnes and Gussie J. Reynolds. He attended Hancock Central High School in Sparta, Georgia. He graduated with the Senior Class of 1983.

He was a painter by trade and enjoyed over 30 years as a painter. He also owned his own business that allowed him to do what he loved. If he wasn't painting or spending time with his family and friends, he was out fishing. He also loved music and playing his guitar. Many would say, he was the greatest guitar player in this area. He played the guitar for many years and in many churches with various gospel groups.

Mr. Barnes, affectionately called “Troy” by those who loved him, got his nickname from his mom at only three days old. His mom said his eyes favored the eyes of the American Actor, Troy Donohue. The name stuck and everyone has known him a Troy ever since.

Left to cherish his memories: his children; Baldwin Barnes Jr., Abram Barnes, Troymel Barnes, Ashton Barnes, Alliayh Barnes, Kenneth Brown, Caneisha Brown and Lamar Brown; parents; Gussie and Elder Wallace Reynolds; aunts; Annie Wallace, Liddie Thompkins, Betty Hall, Annie Merrell, Geraldine Merrell, Ruthie Wright, Lucy Swint; uncles, Sammie Merrell and Elder Clifford Merrell; brothers, Andre and Elder Prentrice Barnes; a devoted friend, Ms. Bridgette Redding; grandchildren, Armoni and Ariyah; a host of cousins and friends.
