It is with sympathy, the management and staff of Slater’s Funeral Home, Inc. announce the passing of Mr. Marvin Torrence, of Jacksonville, Florida. Mr. Torrence passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022.
Graveside services were held on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 11:00AM from the Fishing Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Milledgeville, Georgia.
Marvin Torrence was born, July 13, 1964, in Milledgeville, Georgia to the parentage of Clara Clark, the late Knox Butts and (bonus father) Danny Clark. As a young man, Marvin joined Job Corp where he obtained both his GED and his welding certification. He liked working with his hands. Although he grew up in Georgia, about ten years ago, he decided to make Florida his home. He loved it. He found work in welding and lived his life. Oh what a life he lived. Marvin was full of love and laughter, especially when it came to his family and friends. He was a devoted uncle to all his nieces and nephews. Marvin was the kind of guy that would give you the shirt off his back. Oftentimes, when he visited his family in Georgia, he’d make sure to take them out to treat them to ensure they felt loved. He loved to see his family happy. He will be truly missed. Mr. Torrence is survived by his mother Clara Clark of Milledgeville, Georgia; sisters, Pennie Clark (Mike), Jacqueline (Melvin) Winkfield, Paula Clark (Alvin); brother, Ronnie Clark, all of Milledgeville, Georgia; aunts, Rosa Mae Reeves and Emma Milner of Milledgeville, Georgia; uncles, Anthony Torronce of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Charlie Mack Torronce (Walterine) of Jacksonville, Florida and Alfonso Sherman of Milledgeville, Georgia. He also leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special thanks to his devoted cousin, Nicole Glenn.
