Mrs. Margaret Liggins, of 663 Highway 49 West, Milledgeville, Georgia passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at her residence.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at 1:00 PM from the Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Coby McKenzie officiating. Interment followed in Scenic Memorial Gardens, Milledgeville.
Our Queen, Margaret Foston Liggins was born in Milledgeville, Georgia on November 8, 1950. Margaret was the eleventh of twelve children born to Mr. Ransom and Willie Mae Satcher Foston and received her education growing up in the Baldwin County School system. In 1969, she graduated and received her diploma from JF Boddie High School.
Margaret realized she enjoyed helping people and began her career at Central State Hospital as an Occupational Therapist. Her role was to help patients with decreasing limitations or disabilities regain strength and control to fulfill their daily routine. Blessed with the gift of giving, she would go on to help countless other family members and friends.
In 1971, Margaret eventually married her high school prom date, Roger Eugene Liggins and formed her union that was blessed with two boys, Anthony and Roderick Liggins. In 1995, after the untimely demise of her husband, she continued to push forward and help both her children through college and continued to assist them in their adulthood with her wealth of information, knowledge and wisdom. After retiring from Central State Hospital, she would visit the sick and shut-in daily to assist church and family members with whatever needs they required until she could no longer fulfill her duties.
Margaret was a devoted wife, mother and faithful church member of Oak Grove Baptist Church #1 where she served as an usher. She would continue to serve the church in other capacities including overseeing numerous holiday programs and events.
She would help anyone that she could as most that have been in her presence would tell you that she had a “heart of gold”. She loved and looked after her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. She was an honest, devout friend with a listening ear, and was more concerned about telling you what you needed to hear and not what you wanted to hear. She left an impact on everyone that was touched by her strength and grace. Truly, a child of God, Margaret was a praying woman whose footsteps were guided by faith and not by sight.
On Thursday, March 5, 2020, Margaret was called home to eternal rest to be with her beloved husband, Roger Liggins. Those left to cherish her loving memories: Her loving sons, Roderick and Anthony (Michele); granddaughter, Bailey; three sisters, Mrs. Rebecca James, Ms. Christine Foston, Mrs. Hellen Turner and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
