It is with sympathy, the management and staff of Slater’s Funeral Home, Inc. announce the passing of Mr. Leonard James Fancher, of Milledgeville, Georgia. Mr. Fancher passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022.
Leonard James Fancher (Len), passed On February 7, 2022, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Len was cared for at the Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville, Georgia.
Len is survived by wife Festeen Anderson, his daughter, Roberta and two grandchildren, Ry’Ann Renee and Miles Davis Fancher all of Roswell, GA. Len has three sisters and their families, Sharon Russell of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Wanda Seabrook of Grayston, GA and Princetta Seabrook, of Lawrenceville, Georgia. Len is preceded in death by his parents, Annie Elizabeth Seabrook and William Henry Fancher, his sister Rosemary Hamilton, and brother Nick Young.
Len was born on February 16, 1944, in Detroit Michigan. He graduated from Community High School before severing in the United States Army from 1961 -1964. He retired from LTV steel and began a second career in the culinary arts and served as a chef in various hotels/restaurants in Cincinnati Ohio, Chicago Illinois and Atlanta Georgia. Len loved cooking for his friends and family wherever he was. Len had a passion for music, old school and jazz; and collected several hundred vinyl recordings of his favorite musical artist.
Len and Festeen were married in 1985, they lived in Cincinnati, Ohio and Chicago, Illinois before relocating to the Atlanta area in 1996. They celebrated 36 years of marriage in October 2021. He will be remembered and loved by a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A virtual memorial celebrating Len’s life is scheduled for February 16, 2022. Len’s final resting will be at the Georgia Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, GA.
