It is with sympathy, the management and staff of Slater’s Funeral Home, Inc. announce the passing of Mr. Joseph Watson, of Hardwick, Georgia. Mr. Watson passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022.
Graveside services were held on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 1:00 PM from the New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, Warrenton, Georgia.
Joseph Watson was born in Warren County on October 31, 1943 to the parentage of the late Mr. and Mrs. JW Watson and Essie Lee Watson. Joseph was in the Military from June 13, 1967 through July 18, 1973. He served as a Specialist 5. During November 1968 through November 1969, he served as first cooks, United States Army inventory control center Vietnam, and1st Logistical Command. He lived in New York briefly and then moved to Milledgeville closer to his parents. He sang in a quartet and loved music. Joseph was a very family-oriented person. He loved his family with all his heart. He was a man of few words, but got things done. He was known to many as "Mr. Joe". Walking was his exercise and method of thinking through. People in the neighborhood always saw him walking and smoking his cigarettes with a smile on his face. Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Emargaie Tillman, Marion Taylor. Joseph will be cherished in memory by his children: Joseph Watson, Milton Watson, Carlos Curry, Jocelin Curry, Don Curry; his siblings: Johnny C. Watson (Beauty), James A. Watson, Mattie Dean Smith, Tim Watson, Nathanial Watson, Cecil Watson, Buster Watson; several grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
