Jonathan Liggins Obituary

Jonathan Lee Liggins departed this life on February 19, 2024 surrounded by his loving family following a hard fight with a brief illness at the age of 40.

Jonathan was born November 8, 1983 to Bishop Eddie and Geneva Liggins in Milledgeville Ga. He was raised in a nurturing and devout Christian home where church was the center of his life.

He attended Bible Revival Church and was baptized at an early age. As a youth, he played drums for church services and helped out in various ways. He grew up on his family farm amongst his extended family of grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. He attended Baldwin High School with the class of 2002 and also played for the Baldwin Braves.  Jonathan fondly recalled his childhood as an idyllic point of his life.

Jonathan attended Savannah State University before entering the United States Army where he worked in Intelligence and Surveying. Following his military experience, Jonathan moved to New York City, where the love story of he and his wife Ronda Green-Liggins began. As a step father and girl's dad, Jonathan's children were his pride and joy. He developed a strong bond filled with guidance for his step-son Juwaun and proudly watched his eldest daughter Ava achieve academic success with accolades and honor society induction. He shared the same birthday as Madison with whom he enjoyed laughing and spending time while celebrating her academic achievement as well. Morgan, his baby girl and the apple of his eye also demonstrated a strong academic determination and accomplishment that made him proud. Jonathan made it a point to be a vital part of his children's lives.  A man of God, Jonathan led his family in faith by instilling a love of God in his children through prayer and adhering to scripture. Jonathan worked in the I.T. field for both Altice USA and Mouthwatch companies. Jonathan enjoyed his work and embraced his colleagues. His friendly demeanor and good humor allowed him to build lasting friendships. While he enjoyed his work, Jonathan was forever a farmer at heart. He embarked on a journey of sustainability by creating his own small family farm in Long Island, NY.

The loss of Jonathan has profoundly impacted his family as he was one of the kindest, friendliest, charitable and loving humans to ever walk this planet. He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend, Ronda; his children, Juwaun, Ava, Madison and Morgan; his loving parents, Bishop Eddie and Geneva Liggins; his sister, Kotina Billingslea and her husband Keith of Jacksonville, Florida; his brother, Deacon Eddie Liggins Jr. and his wife Angela of Milledgeville, GA; his sister, Jennifer Liggins of New York; his father and mother-in-law, Wallace and Cynthia Green of New York; his sister-in-law, Chantal Kamara and her husband Momo of Staten Island, NY; his sister-in-law, Ayisha Green; his brothers-in-law, Ishmail Green and Khalid Green, all of Queens, NY; Aunts, Mrs. Irona (William) Spikes of Gray, GA, Mrs. Janie Salley of Gray, GA, Pastor Willie Bell (Elder Zealous) Martin of Sandersville, GA, Mrs. Cynthia Gotell-Lewis of Irwinton, GA, Mrs. Lucy Gotell-Rozier of Gordon, GA, Ms. Mareece Gotell of Dublin, GA, Ms. Sharon Gotell and Ms. Alma Gotell, both of Detroit, MI; Uncles, Mr. Norris (Flora) Liggins, Mr. James Liggins of Milledgeville, GA, Matthew Liggins of Gray, GA, Kenneth Gotell of Atlanta, GA, Mr. Harold (Bertha) Gotell, Mr. Michael Gotell and Mr. Lester Gotell, all of Irwinton, GA; his God Son, Gavin Gales of Gray, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; Closest friends: Isaac Rawlings, Derek Williams, Christopher Jimmerson, Delilah Byron, Shantel Attride, Davit and Natia Kapanadze, Slyvester and Happie Henry, Mathew and Meredith Green and Cindy Thottam.
