Jonathan Ridge Hicks, affectionately known to most as “Ridge” and also known as “Lil Hicks,” passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the age of 38. Born on October 27, 1986, in Milledgeville, Georgia, Jonathan was the beloved son of Eunice Hicks and the late Johnny Hicks, Jr.
A proud native of Baldwin County, Jonathan attended school in the local district, where his vibrant personality and natural charm were evident from a young age. Known for his larger-than-life energy, Ridge lived unapologetically and fully. He had a deep love for loud music, fast cars, and food generously dusted with lemon pepper seasoning. He enjoyed long walks, lifting weights, riding bikes—and above all else, talking. Ridge really loved to talk. He could carry on a conversation with anyone, anywhere, about anything, and often left people laughing, thinking, or both.
While he wasn’t much on cooking—unless you count mastering Hot Pockets, Folgers instant coffee, and Ramen noodles—Ridge had recently made a bold (and slightly smoky) attempt at grilling. Let’s just say… the grill won that round. But true to form, his effort was full of heart, and you could never beat him trying.
Always the confident one, he swore he was his parents’ favorite child—well, all of his brothers and sisters would beg to differ.
Jonathan is survived by his loving mother, Eunice Hicks; his devoted sisters, Sheila Anderson, B. Lisette Hicks, and Kimberly (Kevin) Hicks-Grable, all of Milledgeville, Georgia; and his brothers, the late Gregory Justice, Johnny L. Hicks, III, and Aundrá (Monica) Macklin, also of Milledgeville.
He also leaves behind cherished nieces: Veneshia, Jessica, Tameria (Kenneth), Makenzie, Makayla, and Madison; and nephews: Mario, Jeffrey, Xavier, Jamarious, and Torez; along with a beloved host of grandnieces and grandnephews.
In addition, he leaves behind his beloved pet, October “Buddy” Hicks, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends who will forever remember his humor, his heart, and the unforgettable joy he brought to every moment.
Ridge’s legacy is one of laughter, loyalty, and love. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will remain with us always.
“To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.”
