It is with sympathy, the management and staff of Slater's Funeral Home, Inc. announce the passing of Mr. Johnny Butts Sr., Milledgeville, Georgia. Mr. Butts passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at 11:00 AM, from the Chapel of All Faiths, Milledgeville, Georgia.

Mr. Johnny Leon Butts Sr. was the 7th child of 11 children of the late George Butts, Sr., and the late Mrs. Lillian Butts. Of the eleven children, two are deceased, George Reginald Butts and Joan Dianne" Tootsie" Boardraye.

Born in a Christian home, Johnny was taught at an early age how to love the Lord and he continued this path all his life. In 1978 he graduated from Baldwin High School. He was employed by Central State Hospital until his retirement.

He was known to be easy going, very funny and always present for his family when needed. Johnny made point of keeping in touch with local and out of town family and friends. Being friendly and approachable made it easy to say he never met a stranger.? 

Though we can say, we are thankful that we witnessed a husband, father, grandfather, and brother enjoy his earthly life. Through it all we understand that he had to leave us to go home to be with the Lord. Well done thy good and faithful servant.

Johnny Butts Sr. leaves an adoring Family to remember his legacy, including a loving wife, Belinda Butts; Children: Johnny Butts, Jr., Deidrice Hurt (Keontae); stepson, Orintha Johnson; grandchildren: Alexander Butts, Alona Choice, Amani Choice, Alonzo Choice III; sisters: Mrs. Barbra Scott of Irwinton, GA and Ms. Wanda D. Butts of Milledgeville, GA; Brothers, Mr. Earl Butts (Edna), Mr. Spencer R. Butts (Evelyn),Mr. Wayne Butts (Erica) Mr. Bruce A. Butts (Angela), all of Milledgeville, GA, Mr. Michael B. Butts of California and Mr. Gary C. Butts of Nevada; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
