Jackie Barnes

Mr. Jackie Barnes, of Milledgeville, Georgia departed this life on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at Navicent Health Baldwin Milledgeville, Georgia.

Graveside services were held on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at 10:00 AM from the Walls Cemetery, Sparta, Georgia.

Mr. Jackie Barnes was born on January 23, 1957 to the parentage of the late John and Gladys Barnes of Devereaux, Hancock County, Georgia.

At an early age, Jackie attended Jones Chapel AME, where he gave his life to the Lord. He attended Baldwin High School and was an honor student, often referred to as the “smartest student” in his class.

Jackie shared his life for more than 35 years with his “soul mate” Brenda. Jackie was a kind and humble man. Together, Jackie and Brenda had nine children. He loved and treasured all of his children. He especially loved his role as a Grandfather to his grandchildren. He was guardian to Mickala, Miguel, Ashantis, Damarius, and Emond and caring for them was the joy of his life.

Jackie worked for many years at what was formally J.P. Stevens. He eventually found his passion after he became a self-taught mechanic and retired after many years from working at Beckham's Used Cars. He was known throughout Milledgeville as one of the best mechanic in town. Jackie could listen to a car and diagnose what was wrong.

Our beloved Jackie was a wonderful father and dedicated grandfather. He was a provider and he always made sure that all of the children he and Brenda had were taken care of. He was a faithful brother, uncle, partner, cousin, and friend. He worked hard and he played hard too. He enjoyed getting together with family and friends and everyone loved to see him dancing and having a good time. He enjoyed life and loved his family. He was known for his humor and he liked to have his “drink”.

Jackie Barnes entered into rest on Saturday, July 25, 2020. He was preceded in death by his daughter Tameka Smith, his brother, John Barnes, Jr., and his sister, Beulah Elizabeth Fleming.

Jackie is survived by his committed soul mate, Brenda Butts; four daughters, Jacqueline Barnes of Macon, GA, Ashley Dube (David) of McIntyre, GA, Cherika Barnes Lee of Milledgeville, GA, Crystal (Cedric) Knowlton of Lizella, GA, Latina Primas of Macon, GA; three sons, Craig Barnes of Atlanta, GA, Nicolas Primas (Tanisha) of Gray, GA, and Roderick Butts (Brittany) of Atlanta, GA; siblings, Dorothy Downing, Harvey T. Buck, both of Milledgeville, GA, Gladys Garner (Royce) of Augusta, GA, and Kelvin Barnes (Janet) of Atlanta, GA; special friend and brother-in-law, Willie James Fleming; one sister-inlaw, Lisa Butts (Tiger) of Milledgeville, GA; brothers-in-law, Edwards Butts, Jr. (Ruby), Ricky Butts, Gregory Butts, all of Milledgeville, GA, Willie J. Butts of Lithonia; a special auntie, Lillian Lucille Buck-Wagner of Milledgeville, GA; 30 grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
