On August 17, 1959 in Milledgeville, Baldwin County, Georgia a Beautiful daughter was born to the union of the late Mr. Frank Jones and the late Annie Mae Foston Jones. She was named Ida Mae Jones. She is the youngest of their two daughters. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Billy and Betty Jones, her step-daughter JaQuana Laneshia Freeman and her loving Baby Boy Wesley Clyde Freeman. At an early age she confessed to Christ and joined Oak Grove Baptist Church #1 where she maintained her membership. She was a kind, devoted Wife, Mother, Sister and shepherd for the Lord. At Oak Grove she became a member of the Junior Choir and then Senior Choir where she was a former President of the Choir. She was a part of a few local choirs and Gospel singing groups such as The Baldwin County Mass Choir and the Rev. Ayo Bandele and the Leconar Brown Voices of Praise Gospel group. In her early years she received the majority of her education in the Baldwin County School System and some in Bibb County. During her tenure at Baldwin High, she played basketball being honored as Best Offensive Player and receiving Sportsmanship Award, she was in Future Business Leaders of America and was a former President of FBLA amongst other organizations. She was a 1977 Graduate of Baldwin High School. Her eagerness to learn and intellect motivated her to move forward with receiving a higher education. She attended Georgia College where she played intercollegiate basketball and she crossed over in Spring of 1981 to join the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated Epsilon Omega Omega sisterhood. She received her Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with a Focus in Business Management with a Minor in Sociology in 1981. With her accomplishment she pursued a career in helping others where her calling for touching hearts and helping families in need took her into a long journey of changing lives for the better. Her career started as a Social Services Specialist in the Foster Care Unit for Baldwin County Department of Family Children and Services. In this career where she could exemplify her love for GOD and his people, within 3 years of her being a Services Specialist in the Foster Care Unit she became a supervisor. She also wrote the Department of Family Children and Service Creed when she entered The G.C.W.A. Pen Awards Contest that she won in 1989. Her knowledge and understanding of the need to help those that can't speak up for themselves created this Creed that many Social Services Employees and Management utilize to this date. In 1983 she had her eldest of her two living children Tiffany Bianca Hart was born from her previous marriage. She married her friend and husband James Freeman in holy matrimony on April 25, 1991. With this Union Wesley was born and then her youngest Shambria Jameka Freeman in 1993. She also gained two more daughters, JaQuana Freeman and Crystal Freeman and one son Dean Johnson. She loved her family dearly and the families she helped along the way during her GOD given assignment. During her 23 years at DFCS she was honored to be given the Governor's Award for Outstanding Service in Georgia's State Government and was given it personally by Governor Joe Frank Harris on September 29, 1989, after she helped one of her clients from a life and death matter in 1988. She also became a Special Investigator over 3 Regions in Ga specializing in Child incidents and deaths. She was a Supervisor for the Hancock County and Washington County DFCS during her duration. In her words” I hope that I can make a difference in their lives,” “so they will grasp something, remember something, that will have a positive effect and guide them.” After 23 years she retired from the Baldwin County DFCS but she didn't stop being there for others. Once she retired, she continued her higher education with gaining a Master's of Science in Counseling and Psychology at Troy University of Alabama in 2008. With this new profound achievement, she began to work for The Baldwin County Oconee Center as a Licensed Professional Counselor and while there she formed the Oconee Center Choir to help those with substance abuse cope with their feelings of being lost in a more Spiritual therapeutic treatment. as a Wide Range Resources as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and became a supervisor where she worked for 7 years until their closing. She didn't take the closing of their doors as a hindrance but as a step into a new direction because she started her career as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) at River Edge Behavioral Health where she later retired after 5 years. She instilled her Love for GOD and pursuing a higher education into her children and grandchildren and we are highly grateful for her Guidance. After some illness and an uphill journey, she was called home to GOD to be a part of his Heavenly Choir and she answered “Lord, Here I am.” She will be greatly missed, Rest in Peace Our Beloved Ida Mae.
