It is with sympathy, the management and staff of Slater's Funeral Home, Inc. announce the passing of Mrs. Gracell Hawkins, Milledgeville, Georgia. Mrs. Hawkins passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 11:00 AM from the Oak Grove Baptist Church, Milledgeville, Georgia.
Gracell "Grace" Hawkins was born to the parentage of Charlie Brown and Eugene Moore Brown on Tuesday, April 23, 1946, in Milledgeville, GA. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Robert Lee Brown, Johnny Brown, Charlie Brown, and Geneva Brown, sister: Lucille Goodard and grandson: Michael D. Hawkins. Grace was a beautiful, loving, and compassionate soul to all she came
across.
The love she had for her family showed through everything she did, she sent cards for all our birthdays and Christmas, she was always so thoughtful and generous. The family's favorite memory of Grace is that she loved cooking. When she cooked, she opened her kitchen to all who visited her home. Grace was employed as a home healthcare worker in the Bronx, New York as well as Central State Hospital in Milledgeville, GA. Therefore, paving the way for her own daughters to follow in her caring footsteps. She was the perfect
mother, grandmother, and aunt to her kids. Grace left prints on all our hearts, and we will forever cherish them.
She leaves behind to cherish beautiful memories her sons: Jerry D. Brown, Bernard Hawkins, Willie Lamont "Buddy" Hawkins, all of Bronx, New York, Michael Gene Hawkins, and Ralph Edwards Hawkins of Milledgeville, GA; her two daughters: Lynette Hawkins and Trametres Hawkins of Macon, GA; eighteen grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; her loving sister, Lula Phelps; sisters-in- law: Annie "Poll)/' Brown, Minnie Reeves and soul sister: Vera Ward all of Milledgeville, GA; her brother: Willie M. Brown of Milledgeville, GA; uncle, Evan Brown of North Carolina; including a host of family and friends who will all continue to carry the love she
shared throughout her life.
