Grace Solomon Obituary

Our hearts are saddened by the loss of our beloved Grace Smith Solomon. Our beloved mother and grandmother gained her wings on December 31, 2025, with her daughters by her side.

Grace Smith Solomon was born on December 16, 1947 in Hancock County, Georgia to the late Marie Cummings Trawick and Louis Owens. She was a dedicated and hard worker. Sometimes she worked two to three jobs at a time to support her family. Just to name a few: Madison, Baldwin High School (custodian), and finally retiring from Central State Hospital.

She loved to cook and host family gatherings. She also loved to fish, play cards, and spend time at the game rooms. To know her was to love her. She would help anyone and anybody in their time of need. Whether you needed a place to stay, clothes on your back or food in your body. She would lend a helping hand. If you needed a place to stay and she had a sofa or floor, you were always welcomed.

At an early age she joined Elbethel Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Paul Robinson and then under the leadership of Mr. Julius Trawick. She loved God & gospel music. Monday through Friday, she would listen to Bishop T. on love 103.7.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Joe Pete Smith, Jr., followed by Joe (Flab) Solomon, Jr.; son, Joe Smith III; daughter, Wanda Smith Taylor; brothers, Willie Trawick, Eugene Trawick, and two sisters, Dorothy Riddick, Mabel Collier; three grandchildren, Bobby Antionio Smith, Brittany Latrese Smith, Mayra Nicole Ford.

She leaves to cherish er memory: a son, Bobby (Betty) Smith; her loving daughters, Grace (Melvin) Ford, Tangela (Tracy) Austin, Beverly (Billy) Ford, Elain Smith of Orange, New Jersey; one sister, Katherine Brown; devoted grandchildren, Sariesa Grimes, Lantavius Durden, Leon Brown, Malik Ford; a devoted friend of many years, James (Hicks Dixon)

She will be dearly missed by a host of friends and family; twenty grandchildren; fifty great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren.
