Gloria Jean Banks Obituary

On Monday, January 6, 2025, Gloria Jean Banks, a beloved queen, was called home by her heavenly father. She was born in Belle Glade, Florida on August 24, 1953, to the late Leroy Goodman and Lishia Kennedy.

She attended the public schools of Florence County. She was a member of Wayside Baptist Church for many years. She worked at Pee Dee Mental Health Center as a CNA. She was also a member of the Eastern Star organization.

In 1973 she married Leroy Moses.

In 1991 she joined St. Mary Baptist Church of Milledgeville under the leadership of Rev. Gregory Ellison ….. later St. Mary Baptist Church (Sparta).

She was a member of the Mighty Move of God prayer line. She led the senior citizen luncheon organization and served on the usher board. She was a god-fearing woman that loved the lord and was always willing to spread the gospel.

Gloria was a devoted wife to Ernest Banks for forty-two years. Her loving memories will remain cherished by her children, Alissa McClellan of Milledgeville, Venicea (Andre) Ballad of Macon, GA, Shamikia “Peaches” (Prince) Banks of Milledgeville, Jonathan (Alisa) Banks of Gordon, GA, the late David Goodman, Ernest (Brenda) Banks, Ginnovia (Heidi) Banks, and Cecil (Adriene) Banks; sisters, Patricia (Willie) Harrison of Goose Creek, SC, Barbara Robinson of N. Charleston, SC; brothers, Louis Goodman, Allen Epps, both of Florence, SC, Steve (Diane) Goodman of Marion, SC, Harry (Nella) Epps of Florence, SC, the late Dana Goodman of Effingham, SC; sister-in-law, Amelia Banks of Detroit, MI; brothers-in-law, Joseph L. (the late Lorraine) Banks, Ulysses (Ann) Banks, all of Detroit, MI; grandchildren, Shalissa Moses, Nathaniel Fleming Jr., Stephanie Mimms, Anthony Fleming, LaVance “Trell” Moses, Te'Asijah Haynes, Ta'Kerria Haynes, Aubree Banks, Alijah Banks; great grandchildren, Malaysia Moses, Paris Moses, Aiden Fleming, Jabari Fleming, Destiny Fleming, Victor “Amir” Joseph; God daughter, Emma (Edward) Palmer; God sons, Sam Davis, and Bill Dudley; devoted friends, Janice Foster and Yvonne Johnson; special nieces, Martha Sanders, Mary Davis, and Tonita Holmes, all of Florence, SC; special daughters, Latasha (Sylvanius) Hightower, and Jessica Davis; a host of nieces and nephew.
