Eugene Thomas Obituary

Mr. Eugene Thomas, of Philadelphia entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Graveside services were held on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at 11:00 AM from the Bundrage Cemetery, Milledgeville, Georgia.

On September 27, 1927 God breathed life into Eugene Thomas born to the late Ms. Rosa Roberson Thomas and Mr. Charlie Thomas, Sr. In his time spent in Milledgeville, he became a member of Union Baptist Church.

Eugene was known to many as "Gene", but according to his sister-in-law, Ms. Barbara Ann Hall, he was "Marty Pozzy" and to his mother-in-law, the late Ms. Rebecca Bishop, he was alwasys "Caldonya". He had that one special name that brought a smile to his face, and that was "Pop-Pop". Eugene was quiet, hard-working, loved driving, care and most of all his family.

In July 29, 1950, he married his soulmate, the late Claudia Bishop Thomas. They left Milledgeville and traveled to Paterson, New Jersey for a short time and then migrated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where they both resided until their demise. Eugene and Claudia were blessed with four daughters: Gennette Rice, of Forestville, Maryland, Barbara Abdul-Karim (Brian), San Francisco, California, Bernice Washington (Vance), of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Claudette Stewart (Tracey), of Lansdowne, Pennsylvania.

While living in Philadelphia, Eugene held several occupations at small establishments, until he found his niche, and began using that builder/carpenter skill trait that is running through the "Genes" of the Thomas Males and began his employment as a construction worker, where he assisted with building bridges small and large. He continued his lengthy employment until he retired from The Neshaminy Construction Company.

Upon his retirement, Eugene and Claudia (his soulmate), spent their time together reading the scriptures daily, watching their favorite ministers, a select few of tv shows and most of all their newfound interest "Baseball". They made their daily outings to their favorite stores. It was in those times where many had begun to say that they were like (2) peas in a pod (meaning you would not see one without the other). On 6-18-2018 his soulmate, Claudia, had to leave their earthly journey together, and on 10-20-2020, Eugene left his earthly journey to start their new journey as (2) peas in a heavenly pod.

Eugene is survived by his brother, Owen Frank Thomas, of Philadelphia, PA; two sisters: Laurette Rhodes, Rosa Lee Reaves, both of Milledgeville, GA; one sister-in-law, Barbara Ann Hall, of Milledgeville, GA. He is also survived by six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, several other relatives and friends.

ON OCTOBER 10, 2020, JESUS SAID TO EUGENE COME AND GO WITH ME TO MY FATHERS HOUSE.
