Mrs. Ethel Lockett, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2020 in Milledgeville, Georgia.
Graveside services were held on Friday, March 27, 2020 at 11:00 AM from the Austin Memorial Cemetery, Milledgeville, Georgia.
Mrs. Ethel Bell Lockett entered this world on a Tuesday morning on April 11, 1933. She was lovingly reared by Edward and Cora Myrick in Wilkinson County Georgia.
She attended Brundage Mount School, and she became a member of Parker Spring Baptist Church at an early life. Later in life, she joined Macedonia Baptist Church where she served as the Vice-President on Usher Board Number One until moving to Milledgeville, Georgia. In Milledgeville, Ethel joined the Oak Grove Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Henry Hill.
Ethel was the oldest girl of nine siblings. The following siblings preceded her in death: Mrs. Ruby Pearl Hillman, Ms. Gloria Myrick, Mrs. Lula Francis Palmer, Mr. William Ernest Myrick, Mr. Fred Lee Myrick, and Mr. Frank James Myrick.
Ethel was united in Marriage to Mr. Abraham Lockett in 1954. They remained married until Mr. Lockett's demised in April of 1989.
Ethel loved the Lord with all her heart. She prayed daily, even when she was too weak to move. She enjoyed going to church, and supported organizations that were spreading the word of Christianity. She enjoyed traveling, and visited such places as: Florida, New York, New Orleans, Texas, Canada, Mexico, Virginia, Maryland, South Carolina, and the Bahamas. Ethel was a fantastic cook, and she enjoyed preparing meals for her family.
Ethel's biography was written in a book entitled “A Generation of Fadeless Memories.” Her favorite saying in the mist of troubling times was “With God All Things are possible.”
Ethel's two children, William Clarence Lockett and Mary Denise Campbell preceded her in death. Her oldest grandson Aaron Kevin Braswell also preceded her in death.
She is survived by two daughters, Amanda Canty, and Joann Braswell, (Ernest Braswell); one son, Wayne Lockett, ( Elissa ); six grandchildren: Tomeka Lockett of Texas, Alaseia Jackson, (Bernard ) of Macon, Georgia, LaShunda Lockett, (Q. Kitchens ),Candi Renee Washington of Milledgeville, Jasmine Glenn, and Akeem Glenn; seventeen great- grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; One sister, Mary Jean Ford and one brother, Prince Edward Myrick; a host of nieces nephews, cousins, A dedicated niece, Tina Hillman, A dedicated cousin, Alicia Walker, and other relatives and friends.
