Come to me, all you who are weary and burden, and I will give you rest. ~ Matthew 11:28
On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, Mr. Emanuel Watkins entered eternal rest with his lovely wife beside his side. He fought a good fight; he finished his race and kept the faith.
Emanuel Watkins was born January 6, 1947, in Ocilla, Florida to the beloved T. Harper and Lizzie Watkins.
Emanuel was an active member of Lee Chapel CME Church. He was a faithful and dedicated usher. He attended Boddie High School and graduated in the Class of 1968. He retired from Baldwin County Hospital.
Emanuel was loved by many and will be missed by many. He loved helping people, working in the yards, reading his bible and watching TV; especially Webster, the Andy Griffin Show, and the Beverly Hillbillies.
He had a friend that was special to him, Mrs. Ray. Every time she would call, he would stop whatever he was doing and take her where she wanted to go.
After retiring from Baldwin County Hospital, now Navicent Baldwin, he continued to work. Emmanuel worked at Green Acres Nursing Home, Group Home at The Oconee Center, and as a sitter for Mr. Wright.
Emanual was preceded in death by his parents, T. Harper and Lizzie Watkins; six sisters, _Helia Kendrick, Hattie Mae Wanen, Mary Lewis, Lizzie Hunt, Magnolia Ingram and Lena Smith; two brothers, John Harper, and James Harper.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Alma Watkins of forty-five years; two Goddaughters, Lasandra Milner and Casandra Mercer (Tim); brother-in-law, Richard Morris; sister-in-law, Evelyn Dixon; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
