Charles I. Caulton was born in Muscogee County, GA to the parentage of James and Juliette Caulton. As he grew, Charles joined the Methodist Church as a teenager; graduated from Spencer High; graduated from Mercer University in Macon; graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia; completed Family Medicine training at Columbus (Georgia) Medical Center; served as a medical officer in the US Army; passed Board Examination for Certification to provide family medicine care (which he maintained through 7-year recertification courses and tests the duration of his medical career). Charles then joined with George Grimes III MD to open the Milledgeville Family Practice Center.
Charles passed after an extended period of illness.
Charles Caulton is survived by Elaine, his wife of 52 years; daughter, Cicelie (Michael) Neel; sons, Jeremy James and Benjamin Ross; granddaughter, Jasmine Elaine; sisters, Patricia Caulton Law and Anita Caulton (Joey) Lyons; one brother-in-law; many nieces and nephews; and many cousins.
Charles was a respected member of the community and his death brings some grief to some friends and former co-workers.
Charles enjoyed family get-togethers; touring; caring for his patients, especially babies and children; taking photographs for family and friends (but usually avoided being photographed), music of many genres; watching sports. Charles liked to read fiction and non-fiction books.
