It is with sympathy, the management and staff of Slater’s Funeral Home, Inc. announce the passing of Mr. Douglas Clark Hurt, of Milledgeville, Georgia. Mr. Hurt passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022.
Graveside services were held on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 11:00 AM from the Stanton Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Sparta, Georgia.
Douglas Clark Hurt entered eternal rest on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Douglas was born on October 26, 1958, in Devereux, Ga, to the late Lula C Evans and Cleveland Hurt, Sr. At an early age, Douglas’ mother was married to Bennie T Evans, where he was loved and raised to adulthood. Early in life, Douglas joined and was baptized at Stanton Grove Baptist church of Devereux, Ga. and as he got older, he attended various churches in his community. He was preceded in death by his only beloved daughter, Chelsea Hurt, sister, Iris R Evans-Carswell, and his mother, Lula C Evans. Douglas attended and graduated from Baldwin High school class of 1977, where he played tuba in the marching band during his high school years. Douglas served in his local National Guard Armory for several years during his adult life. He spent most of his adulthood employed by McGraw manufacture and Brown and Williamson until their doors closed. Douglas leaves to cherish his memory: his son, Fredrick Hurt, daughter-in-law, Catina Hurt, and his three grandchildren, Jalen, Kaia, and Kira Hurt. His fathers, Bennie T Evans and Cleveland Hurt Sr. Stepmother, Nina Evans. Sisters, Liza L Evans, Sandra T Evans, Monique Hurt, and Tammy Johnson. Brothers Reginald Hurt Sr., Cleveland Hurt Jr, and Jason Hurt. His also leaves behind 11 nieces and nephews will be missed, Sariah Evans, Dralin Carswell, Reginald Hurt, Jr., Maricus Hurt, Cleveland Hurt, III, Jacoby Hurt, Sean Williams, Jr., Sophia Williams, Jeremiah Wright, Jaylen Nelson, and Cameron Johnson. Also, his great-nephew, Kingston James. Douglas will be fondly remembered by Aunts and Uncles, cousins, members of the class of 1977, childhood friends, and special friends over his lifetime. Douglas spent his leisure time in his younger years enjoying bowling with his co-workers and fishing with friends as much as possible. He also enjoyed firing up the grill on a warm, beautiful sunny day with his family and friends.
