Doris (Scott) Rayford Obituary

Doris Scott Rayford was born on July 13, 1941, in Cheraw, South Carolina, to the late
Isaac and Addie Scott. She was educated in the public school system and graduated
from Cheraw High School in 1960.

On July 26, 1962, Doris was united in holy matrimony to James C. Rayford. The couple
made their home in Brooklyn, New York, where Doris worked faithfully for many years
as an Assistant in the public library system. After a rewarding career, she retired and, in
2002, she and her husband relocated to Milledgeville, Georgia.

Doris became an active member of Union Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as
a choir member, Deaconess, and a dedicated volunteer wherever there was a need.
Her unwavering faith and commitment to her church community were hallmarks of her
life.
Doris was a loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother,
and a cherished sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. Her kind spirit, warm heart, and
unwavering dedication to her family and community will be deeply missed.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her beloved husband, James C. Rayford; her
daughter, Rochelle Rayford; her son, James F. Rayford; five grandchildren: Brice
Rayford, Kiyana Washington, Jaymes Rayford, Jason Rayford, and Jayvon Rayford; two
great-grandchildren: Brehea Williams and Brylan Rayford; and a host of loving nieces,
nephews, cousins, and friends.
Doris' life was a testament to love, faith, and service. She will be remembered always
and missed dearly by all who knew her.
