Denise Lorraine Manson Dawson, affectionately known as “Lo,” entered eternal rest on October 10, 2025, at the age of 64. Born and raised in the Harrisburg Community of Milledgeville, Georgia, Denise was a beacon of light, love, and wisdom to all who knew her.
A gifted child, Denise began reading the Bible at the age of four and never lost her passion for learning. She was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church, where she also sang in the adult choir at a young age. Her voice—angelic and powerful—graced many stages across the country and left lasting impressions on all who heard her.
Denise graduated from Baldwin High School in 1979. That same year, she joined the United States Air Force, beginning a distinguished career in Computer Sciences and Programming. She later earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Master's degree in Health Technology Sciences from the University of Phoenix. Her work contributed to the development of healthcare systems such as EPIC and MyChart, improving lives across the nation.
Denise was a woman of grace, humility, and fierce compassion. She spoke with poise and purpose, always ready with a motivational word or a heartfelt truth. Her greatest joy was her family—especially her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted mother, a proud grandmother, great grandmother, and a guiding light to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Julian and Viola Manson; her beloved son, Taurean David Manson; grandchild, Davion; her sister, Valerie Ivey; her niece, Marquita Jarrett; and her nephew, Jonathan Jarrett.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sons: Dan Rico Brown (Pamela), and Barrett Milner (Mirials); her treasured grandchildren, Jaleel (Kira), Julian, Nicholas, Jamari, Neiland, Aiden, Nyah, Nava, Mackenzie, Nadiya, Truce, and A'laiya; her brothers: Kenneth Manson (Mamie) and Ronnie Johnson; her sisters: Julie Manson and Teresa Ivey; nephews: Brandon Dixon (Tiffany), John Lester, and Willie “Tre” Moody; nieces: Cherelle Manson and Jayla Marshal (Jordan); and a host of extended family and dear friends.
“Her voice may be silent, but her song lives on in the hearts of those she loved.”
