Deborah Juanita Solomon was born on April 4, 1933, in Milledgeville, Georgia, to the late Rev. Arrie Havior and Sally Wright. She was educated in the public schools of Baldwin County and went on to build a distinguished and impactful career in healthcare. For 38 years, she served as a dedicated charge nurse at Central State Hospital, where her excellent leadership and compassionate care earned her numerous awards and the admiration of colleagues and patients alike.
A woman of deep and abiding Christian faith, Deborah was a devoted member and Deaconess of Union Baptist Church. She served faithfully within the church and built meaningful, lasting relationships with her church family. She was also a proud member of the Bon Ami's Social Club, through which she cultivated lifelong friendships and made enduring contributions to her community. She was also a proud past Auxiliary member of the Warren-Hawkins Post 523 of the American Legion, where she dedicated herself to supporting veterans and their families through community service and fellowship.
Deborah was known not only for her strength and grace, but also for her impeccable fashion sense. She carried herself with elegance and style, always presenting herself with dignity and flair that reflected her inner beauty.
She was united in holy matrimony to Deacon James Solomon, her loving and devoted husband, who preceded her in death. Together, they created a life grounded in love, faith, and family. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Doc Havior, Fozie Havior Hill, Sam Havior, and Rudolph Havior.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, The Honorable Herbie L. Solomon Sr., and Jean Solomon (deceased), Benita Smith of Albany, Georgia; her granddaughter, Tamara Solomon, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; her grandson, Herbie Solomon Jr., and his wife, Tiffany Solomon, of Birmingham, Alabama; and her beloved great-grandson, Cameron Solomon. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Ellen Solomon of Milledgeville, Georgia; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friend and companion Eugene Willis — all of whom will forever treasure her memory.
On May 21, 2025, Deborah peacefully transitioned from this earthly life at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Ga surrounded by her loved ones. She is leaving a legacy of love, service, strength, faith, timeless fashionable style and she will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
