It is with sympathy, the management and staff of Slater's Funeral Home, Inc. announce the passing of Deacon Robert Williams, Milledgeville, Georgia. Deacon Williams passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2022.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at 12:00 PM from the Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church, Milledgeville, Georgia with interment followed at Scenic Memorial Gardens, Milledgeville, Georgia.
Robert Williams was born on June 16, 1940, to the parentage of the late Mr. Roger Williams and Ms. Maggie Finsley. He began working at the age of 14 at the Madison Fabric Company in Milledgeville, Ga and continued his professional career working at Central State Hospital, Green Acres Nursing Home and Baldwin County Hospital, sometimes simultaneously, until he retired. He married his sweetheart Mary Frances Parham on January 28,1957 and they remained united in marriage until her passing on December 22nd, 2016.
He was preceded in death by two of his sons, Mr. Robert Williams Jr. and Mr. Darryl Williams as well as his only brother Mr. Marion Williams. He attended a host of churches throughout his life before he became a member of Greater Mt Zion Baptist Church where he began serving on the deacon board in 2011 and became Chairman of the Deacon Board in 2018. He was very proud to be of service to his church and the community. He was also a faithful member of the Baldwin County Deacons Union until his retirement.
His life, legacy and love will forever be cherished by his sons, Anthony Williams (Janice), Julian Williams, Stanley Williams (Angela), Randy Williams, Derrick Douglas, Robert Dennis and Dion Dennis; his daughters, Ronda Glover and Sonya Williams; stepdaughter, Coretta Lawson; 11 grandchildren; devoted friend, Robert Webb; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
