Deacon Leroy Scott, of Sparta, Georgia passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2020 at Navicent Health Baldwin, Milledgeville.
Graveside services were held on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at 11:00 AM from the Travis Family Cemetery, Sparta, Georgia.
On Sunday, June 7, 2020, the Lord called Leroy Scott’s name and he answered the call, finished his task, and left behind a legacy of love and memories for his family, friends and loved ones.
Mr. Leroy Scott was born on August 30, 1966 to Jennie Bell Scott and Matthew Stevens. Leroy was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed relaxing and watching television, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends.
Mr. Scott was a member of Powell Grove Baptist Church in Sparta, Georgia and was ordained as a deacon on October 7, 2018. He received his primary education in the public schools of Hancock County, Georgia and in 1984; he graduated from Hancock Central High School in Sparta, Georgia. He was united in holy matrimony on June 21, 1991 to his sweetheart and the love of his life, Teresa Travis. To this union, one daughter was born, Kimberly.
Leroy Scott was a hard worker and worked at various companies to provide for his family. However, his most noteworthy and rewarding position was as a Juvenile Correctional Officer at the Bill E. Ireland Youth Development Center in Milledgeville, Georgia for 15 years.
His memory will always be cherished by his loving, faithful and dedicated wife, Mrs. Teresa Scott, and a wonderful daughter, Kimberly Scott, both of Sparta, Georgia; his mother, Jennie Bell Scott of Sparta, Georgia; his father, Matthew Stevens of New Jersey; two sisters, Lillie (Greg) Andrews, Sylvia (Thomas) Womble, both of Sparta, Georgia; one brother, Anthony (Schollie) Goodman of Desota, Texas; three brothersin-law, Pastor Drayton (Mattie) Travis of Indianapolis, Indiana, Carlton (Edna) Travis, Jr. of Grovetown, Georgia and Adam (Kenisha) Travis of Clarksdale, Tennessee; several aunts and one uncle and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
