Deacon James L. Taylor, has entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 11, 2021 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held privately with family.
On Monday, October 11, 2021, God called our beloved James Taylor home. James L. Taylor was born on May 21, 1945, to the parentage of the late John Taylor, Sr. and the late Lizzie D. (Jackson) Taylor. James lived a full life, embracing opportunities to explore and experience life to the fullest. James attended the public schools in the community and graduated in 1965 from J.F. Boddie High. He was full of knowledge and a master of many crafts. He loved science, space, aeronautics, hunting, and fishing. James lived in Nebraska for a while, before returning to Georgia. He retired from BellSouth as an Electronic Technician and was one of the first to qualify as a Digital Technician for the company in Georgia. Retiring and doing nothing was not an option for him. James was full of energy and was always looking for a project to work on. As he loved building and creating things, he went on to complete scores of projects for people in the community and church making a lasting impression with his abilities, but more especially the friendships he created during the process. He could always be heard trying to say something clever to get you to smile. He maintained a positive outlook on life and was always ready to lend a hand. He loved to tell the story about how he almost got sent home for a few weeks without pay for purposely wrecking a company vehicle. After using the company vehicle to stop a runaway school van to save a child's life, no one from the company wanted to enforce the policy. Instead he received numerous accolades and even carried the Olympic Torch when it travelled through Augusta, Ga. Over the years, many people would call him "Dad" and he loved each and everyone of them. Hearing that word touched him deeply and he loved that he made an impact on their life. James was an ordained Deacon who loved his church and pastor, serving both and doing all he could do to provide assistance where needed. Not a perfect man, but a just man. He loved all his family and believed in teaching you, "how to fish". James was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lizzie Taylor; one son, Jacinto Valdez; and one brother, Marshall (Annette) Taylor of Omaha, NE. Survivors include: his devoted wife of 48 years, Annie L. Taylor; two sons, Mr. Richard Taylor and Mr. Markus Taylor (Taylor S'mon); one daughter, Tamber Taylor; four grandchildren, Diamond Valdez, Tenia Valdez, Jaylen Taylor, and Jonathan Taylor; Kimberly Taylor mother of Jaylen and Jonathan; four great grandchildren; two goddaughters; three great godchildren; three brothers, Mr. John Taylor (Delia) of Fort Valley, GA, Mr. Robert Taylor (Gertrude - deceased), and Mr. Willie Taylor (Yvonne); two sisters; Mary Johnson (Charlie - deceased), and Joyce Abrams (Otis) of Lithonia, GA; two brothers-in-law, Peter McKinley Jr, and Willie C.
