It is with sympathy, the management and staff of Slater’s Funeral Home, Inc. announce the passing of Deacon Curtis Davis, 76, of Milledgeville, Georgia. Deacon Davis passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.
Graveside services were held on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 11:00 AM from the Hickory Cemetery, Sparta, Georgia.
We Salute His Home The Foundation Deacon Curtis Davis was born to the late Sister Doretha Davis on January the 14, 1945 in Milledgeville, GA. He graduated from J.F. Body High School in 1965. The Character of His House Deacon Curtis Davis had an outstanding character. He never met a stranger, neither turned anyone away. His moral statue was a shining example for his family, church, community, and friends. He adopted many sons and daughters. He was not afraid to compliment the achievements of others. Deacon Davis always encourages others to do their best, even if they could not do it. He provided much support for many friends. Brother Davis clothed, fed, housed, and assisted as much as he could. Deacon Davis was a music lover. He founded and established the group – Gloria Walker and the Mighty Chevells, managed the Music Makers, and his greatest discovery during his life – The Emoni Gospel Singers. “The Emoni Gospel Singers” “The Emoni Gospel Singers” “The Emoni Gospel Singers” “The Emoni Gospel Singeeers” Deacon Davis was proud to be a Christian. He was not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Davis would sing, cry, and shout about his relationship with the Lord. The Security of The House At an early age, Deacon Davis secured his house by becoming a member of El Bethel Baptist Church. He was known for his work ethic in the church. Deacon Davis served as a Deacon for more than two decades under the leadership of Reverend Paul Roberts and Reverend T.O. Rockmore. He was employed by Central State Hospital as a lead HST for 34 years. Deacon Davis also was self-employed. He owned and operated Davis' Cleaning Service along with family for over 30 years. Brother Curtis Davis was a member of the 0 Saint Andrews Lodge #32 of Sandersville, GA. Brother Davis was a 33 Mason. He was actively involved until his health failed. His main security was in God. The Building Blocks of His House Family he leaves to carry on Construction for God Deacon Davis was married on May 11, 1969, to Sister Lily Stone (Stoney). The building blocks in this house increased with two sons: Bro. Carlos Davis, and the late Bro. Christopher Davis. He is survived by his sister, Bernita Jarrett (Charles) and his brother, Joey Bailey, both of Milledgeville, GA; a sister-in-law, Geraldine Bailey; three grandchildren: Jada, Carlyse, and Timothy Davis of Macon, GA; two great grandchildren, Landon Parker and Madison Davis, also of Macon, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; a devoted cousin, Betty Williams. His Heavenly Home 2 Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if our earthly House of this Tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God and house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. Deacon Curtis rest in peace. No longer a house by the side of the road, but you have an eternal home with God.
