Deacon Bennie Lee Huff, Sr., of Milledgeville, Georgia passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Regency Hospital, Macon, Georgia.

Graveside services were held on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at 10:00 AM from the Rock Mill Baptist Church Cemetery, Milledgeville, Georgia. 

Bennie was born to the parentage of Mollie and Robert Huff on Mar 4, 1926 in Milledgeville, GA. Bennie was educated in the Baldwin County Public School System where he obtained his High School Education.

Bennie was drafted into the United States Navy Reserve in 1944 but did not want to leave until he married his sweetheart Mildred Moore. He served during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded when his ship the USS Shea was attacked by the enemy. Upon returning home, Bennie and Mildred started their family. Thirteen children resulted from this union.

Bennie joined Rock Mill Baptist Church at an early age. He served as Treasurer and a dedicated Deacon.

Bennie worked at Central State Hospital over 34 years and served as Master Craftsman Engineering Foreman. He was a former member of Prince Hall Masonic Lodge where he served as Treasurer. Bennie was also a member of the Brick Mason Union Local #3 in which he held the office of Treasurer.

On Saturday June 13, 2020, Bennie was called to his eternal home with the Lord. He was welcomed home by his devoted wife of 70 years, Mildred, one son Rogers “Bud”,  three great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, his parents and grandparents. Cherished memories of Bennie, affectionately known as Mr. Miyagi, Chicken and Papa Smurf by his family will forever linger in their hearts. Bennie’s legacy will be carried on by his daughter Jeanette (Oliver) Williams of Sterling Heights MI., son Bennie ( Evelyn)  Huff Jr of Milledgeville, GA, daughters Gail Heron of Annapolis MD,  Rubbie Thomas of Macon, GA,  son Dwain  Huff of Milledgeville, GA., daughter Sandra Huff of Milledgeville, GA, sons Burt Huff Sr of Milledgeville GA, Don (Carolyn) Huff Sr of Ellenwood, GA,  Ron (Connie) Huff Sr of Milledgeville, GA, daughter Deborah (Leland) TeBout of Jackson, GA, sons Robert Huff of Milledgeville GA and Antonio (Betty) Huff Sr of McDonough, GA. , 32 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren, one brother-n-law Jimmy Youngblood of Milledgeville, GA, one daughter-n-law Mary Reeves-Huff of Milledgeville, GA and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.
