Mr. David Phelps, of 103 Shiloh Avenue Apt. 1 SW, Milledgeville, Georgia passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Chaplinwood Nursing Home, Milledgeville, Georgia.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 11:00 AM from the Mt. Hope Church, Milledgeville, Georgia. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
David Lee Phelps was born on May 23, 1933 in Baldwin County, GA to the parentage of Sam Phelps and Virginia Milner Phelps, who preceded him in death. Other siblings preceding him in death include Sam Phelps, Jr., Kate Reeves, Christine Reeves, Ida Mae Bryant, Emma Lee Phelps, James Phelps, Sr., William Phelps, Sr., Jeremiah Phelps, Morgan Phelps and Ezekiel Phelps, Sr.
David attended public school in Baldwin County. He was employed by Engelhard for forty-three years until his untimely retirement due to health issues.
David was a faithful member of the Mount Hope C.M.E. Church until his health declined.
David was devoted to his family and friends. He enjoyed cooking, fishing and family gatherings.
He leaves to mourn his devoted wife of 15 years, Regina Harper Phelps; one devoted daughter, Veronica Finney; two devoted grandchildren, Quinterious Ja-Quian Finney and Alonzo Bernard Vasser, Jr. and five great grandchildren, Tariya Butts, Kayson Vasser, Quinnleigh Bell, Kezeya Lewis and Kevion Shinholster; sistersin-law, Mrs. Geloria Ansley Phelps, Mrs. Lula Mae Phelps of Milledgeville, GA, Mrs. Thelma Phelps of Detroit, Michigan and Pauline Harper, Victoria Harris of Milledgeville, GA and Margaret Franklin of Atlanta, GA; devoted nephews, Dennis McKinley Reeves, Sr. and James Phelps, Jr.; a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
