David Dixon Obituary

It is with sympathy, the management and staff of Slater's Funeral Home, Inc. announce the passing of Mr. David Dixon, Milledgeville, Georgia. Mr. Dixon passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022.

Memorial services were held on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at 11:00 AM from the Griffin Memorial Chapel, Milledgeville, GA. There was no public viewing. 

 

Mr. David Dixon, age 73 of Baldwin County transitioned to be with his heavenly father on April 25, 2022.

 He was born on September 15, 1948, to the late Robert Dixon Sr. and Pauline Simpson Dixon. He attended Hancock County Public schools.

 David made history as the first black Pathologist Technician for Central State Hospital. He retired from Central State Hospital after 34 years of faithful services. He loved to cook and feed others, listen to old school music, putting on his Sunday's best suites and topping it off with his brims. He enjoyed farming and raising animals and working on cars.  David was a man about his business and had a heart of gold. Anyone that knew him, knew how much he loved his daughter Tonya and his granddaughter Summer. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

 David is preceded in death by one brother Alfred Dixon and parents Robert and Pauline Dixon.

 He is survived by his daughter, LaTonya Dixon-Hill (Tony) Atlanta GA; a son he raised as his own, Timothy Terrell Dixon, Milledgeville, GA; three granddaughters, Summer Ingram (Nehemiah), Tameria Durden, Atlanta, GA, and JaCinta Dixon, Milledgeville, GA; a grandson, Daveion Dixon of Milledgeville, GA; four great granddaughters and two great grandsons; brothers, Richard (Johnnie Mae) Dixon, Rufus Dixon, Michael Dixon, Robert Dixon Jr., all of Milledgeville, GA, Melvin Dixon of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Evelyn (Jesse) Walker, Annette (Wilbert) Stembridge, Debra Harper, all of Atlanta, GA, Cora (Benjamin) Lewis, Sparta, GA, Joyce (Otis) Solomon, Washington, DC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and several devoted family members and friends.

 David will be remembered by his passion of love.
