Mr. Darrell Wayne Lundy, affectionately known as "Dale," transitioned peacefully on June 2, 2025, at Atrium Health Navicent in Macon, Georgia. He was 66 years old.
Born on September 7, 1958, in Milledgeville, Georgia, Darrell was the third of six children born to the late Willie Myrick Lundy II and Joan Cornelia Lundy. He remained a proud and devoted lifelong resident of Milledgeville, where he was nurtured by a strong family foundation and a close-knit community of supportive, lifelong friends.
Darrell's spiritual roots were deeply grounded in his upbringing. From an early age, he worshipped the Lord alongside his family at Trinity Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, where faith played a central role in his life.
He was educated in the Baldwin County School System and went on to earn his GED from the Baldwin County Vocational School. Afterward, he proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserve, receiving an honorable discharge. He then embarked on a professional career as a skilled painter and carpenter, devoting over 30 years to perfecting his craft and serving countless homes and businesses throughout the region with pride and excellence.
On April 21, 2001, Darrell was united in marriage to Sharon Williams Lundy. Though their marriage ended after 18 years, the two remained close friends. Together, they became devoted members of Greater Flipper Chapel AME Church, where Darrell served faithfully and was a cherished member of the church choir, admired for his smooth baritone voice-a gift inherited from his father.Darrell was a beloved pillar of the Milledgeville community, known for his quick wit, kind spirit, and humble wisdom. Whether cracking a joke, sharing life advice, or engaging in a serious game of chess, he had a way of leaving a lasting impression. He loved sports, soulful home-cooked meals, and the simple joy of being surrounded by his family, friends, and grandchildren.
In his final days, he shared heartfelt words and reflections with his loved ones, recalling cherished memories and expressing his pride in those he held dear.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and laughter. His memory will be cherished forever by his four children: Chavarvis Wilbon (Lani) of Las Vegas, NV; Jaquez Lundy; Demetria T. Lundy of Milledgeville, GA; and Karel Lundy of Sandersville, GA. He was the proud grandfather of four: Nakayla Lundy (affectionately known as "Darrie's Secretary"), Alani Wilbon, Mckenzie Lundy, and Ashton Wilbon.
He is also survived by his five siblings: Willie Myrick Lundy III (Sonya) of Stockbridge, GA; Tanya Joyce Simmons; Joan Renee Reeves (Lester, Sr.) of Milledgeville, GA; Greta Lavern Scales of McDonough, GA; and Paul Eric Lundy (Yvette) of Lilburn, GA. He will be fondly remembered by a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
