Cornelius Ward Obituary

Mr. Cornelius Ward, of Milledgeville, Georgia entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia.

Funeral services were held on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 12:00 PM from the Pine Ridge Baptist Church, Milledgeville, Georgia. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Cornelius Ward was born on December 2, 1966 in Eatonton “Putnam County” Georgia to Helen Andrews Ward and the late Jack Benny Ward, Sr. He was the tenth of eleven children.

Cornelius was a 1985 graduate of Putnam County High School and later attended Dekalb Community College.

He worked twelve years with Rayonier, a Global Forest Company. In recent years he earned his CDL license and went on to work for Ryder trucking company until his health declined.

On June 25, 2005 Cornelius was united in holy matrimony to Eartha Banks. The couple recently celebrated sixteen years of wedded bliss.Cornelius was an avid sportsman and fisherman. He loved to fish whenever he could fit it into his schedule. He had several fishing buddies who will surely miss him. Sports

was a big part of his life. In his high school days, he was known as a great basketball player and led the Putnam County War Eagles to many victories. During basketball and football seasons you could find Cornelius always watching his favorite teams, the Atlanta Hawks and Atlanta Falcons.

He was also very skilled in carpentry. He built several projects around his home and for others.

Cornelius had several passions that he enjoyed but none surpassed his love for his children Lil C and Tamera.

On Sunday, July 25, 2021, Cornelius departed this life at Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia surrounded by his family. His departure saddened many who loved him so.

Cornelius was preceded in death by his father: Jack B. Ward, Sr.; sister: Sallie Ward Lewis and Justina Ward Monday, brothers: Mack Ward and Jack B. Ward, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Eartha Ward; two children: Cornelius Milton Jack Ward, of Eatonton, GA, Tamera Shantae’ Mosley, of Athens, GA; his mother, Helen Andrews Ward, of Eatonton, GA; two brothers: Ronnie (Donna) Ward, of Killeen, TX, Donnie (Margaret) Ward, of Eatonton, GA; four sisters: Debora Barfield, of Decatur, GA, Beverly King, of Columbia, SC, Ruth (Alton) Whipple, of Milledgeville, GA, Marth Palmer, of Union City, GA; mother-in-law, Mildred Banks, of Milledgeville, GA; two sisters-in-law: Verna Banks, Milledgeville, GA, Marilyn (Gary) Banks, of Phoenix, AZ; brothers-in-law: Stanley Banks, Sr., of Milledgeville, GA, Ulysses Monday, of Decatur, GA; aunt-in-law, Rosa James, of Detroit, MI; uncle-in-law, Matthew Banks, of Detroit, MI; three grandchildren: Kaylen Olivia Jackson, Jordon Dannette Sherman, Cason Elizah Mosley, all of Athens, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, many cousins, and friends.
