It is with sympathy, the management and staff of Slater's Funeral Home, Inc. announce the passing of Mr. Christopher Hurst, Milledgeville, Georgia. Mr. Hurst passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 16, 2023 at 2:00 PM from the Jordan Stream Baptist Church, Toomsboro, Georgia. Interment  followed. 

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away.

Mr. Christopher Jerome Hurst, Sr. was born on February 13, 1975 to the parentage of Leroy Hurst Jr. and Dorothy Strange Hurst. He was affectionately known as “Chris”.  He was well known and was always willing to lend a helping hand.  Chris never met a stranger. He was loved and respected by so many. He loved traveling and spending time with family and friends.

At an early age, Chris joined the Jordan Stream Baptist Church. He graduated from Wilkinson County High School in 1995.  He was an exceptional football and basketball player with his phenomenal defense in both sports. Chris had a love for big trucks and heavy equipment.  He was employed at BH Trucking. Chris took great pride and was a devoted member of Baldwin 159 Masonic Lodge PHA of Milledgeville, Georgia.  Chris also loved his community and often volunteered as a football and baseball coach.  On Friday nights, you could find him on the fields of Baldwin High Braves as a member of the chain crew.

Chris leaves to cherish his memories with a devoted wife, LaShonda D. Shannon Hurst of Milledgeville, Georgia; three daughters, Yasmine Hurst of Hawkinsville, Georgia, Lameria Justice and Kristyn Hurst, both of Milledgeville, Georgia; two sons, Rodrick Hurst of Dublin, Georgia and Christopher Hurst Jr. of Milledgeville, Georgia; three grandchildren, Jayden Simmons, Jayde Simmons and Jekari Simmons of Hawkinsville, Georgia; parents, Leroy Hurst Jr. and Dorothy Strange Hurst of Toomsboro, Georgia; father and mother in law, Tommy Williams and Antionette Williams of Milledgeville, Georgia; sister, Latrenda Buley of Toomsboro, Georgia; brother, Jason (Latoria) Hurst Sr. of Toomsboro, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
