Carrie "Clifford" Austin Obituary

On August 4, 1946, a beautiful baby girl with tan skin and hazel eyes entered the world, bringing joy to her proud parents, Tommy and Queen (Parham) Quaker of Milledgeville, GA. They named her Carrie Bell, but she was affectionately known as Clifford.

Clifford's journey came to an end on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at Wellstar MCC Health Medical Center, due to complications from a severe stroke. As the youngest in her family, she had six sisters and four brothers, all of whom had passed away before her.

Clifford attended public schools in Baldwin County and graduated from J.F. Boddie High School in 1965. She dedicated 32 ½ years of her life to serving as a Health Service Technician at Central State Hospital.

On January 4, 1963, she married her soul mate, Emory James Austin, also of Milledgeville. Their remarkable love story was a testament to their faith in God, their commitment to family, and the importance of embracing others for who they are.

Together, they welcomed two children: Kerry Neil (Monica) of Norman, Oklahoma and Daphne Lenore (Cederic) Hart of Macon, GA. Clifford cherished her role as grandma to her beloved grandchildren, Jarvis (Jarekia) Austin, Kenneth Bonner, Jr., Janerio Bonner, all of Milledgeville, GA, Sha'Nya Hart of Atlanta, GA, and Cederic Hart, Jr. of Gray, GA. She also became a great grandmother to Jakevin Reeves and her little companion, Karmyn Bonner, both of Milledgeville, GA. Her childhood best friends, Thomas and Frankie Baymon celebrated countless occasions with her and held a special place in her heart. Clifford's love and compassion extended to her nieces, nephews, and cousins, who will miss her dearly. She is cherished and will always be remembered by her in-laws, Myrtle Williams (mother-in-law), Laurie (Alvin Fleming, Jean Fraley, Johnny Williams, Jr., Tommy (Romona) Williams, and Ivey Quaker, all of Milledgeville, GA.

She never met a stranger; to know her was to love her. Throughout her life, Clifford was a mother, grandmother, friend, and confidant to many. She lived with gratitude and love, and her devotion to Christ offers peace knowing she fulfilled His purpose beautifully.

Emory, Kerry, and Daphne coney their appreciation for the affection they have received. And now, these three endure: faith, hope, and love. Yet the greatest of these is love.
