Carolyn Denise (Simmons) Claybourne

On April 5, 1960, Mrs. Carolyn Denise Simmons-Claybourne was born to the late George and Annie Lois Simmons of Milledgeville, GA. She was the fourth of ten children.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Belinda Simmons Hill and Willie Alvin Simmons.

Carolyn attended the Baldwin County School System where she was a member of the Class of 1978. She had two sons that she loved and cherished. She was employed by the Georgia War Veterans Home.

Carolyn met and married the love of her life, Mr. Todd Eugene Claybourne, July 1, 2001. This union lasted until her demise.

Carolyn enjoyed cooking, spending time with her husband and kids. Her three grandchildren, Tan, Lil Rico and Chick were the sunshine of her life.

Carolyn was little in stature but was mighty in spirit. She was called by many names: Carolyn, Ma, Boss, Lady, Carolina Pine, and the famous Witchy Poo, all in love by family and friends.

Carolyn returned home to be with the Lord, Monday, March 4, 2024 in the comforts of her home.

Carolyn will be cherished in memory by all who loved her including her husband, Todd Claybourne of Milledgeville, GA; two sons, Torico T. Simmons, Sr., Travis Taylor, both of Milledgeville, GA; mother-in-law, Geraldine Simmons; three sisters, Annie (Greg) Flournoy, Bertha Simmons, Katrina Simmons; four brothers, George (Brenda) Simmons of Sandersville, GA, Ronnie Simmons of Manhiem, Germany, Barry (Sandra) Simmons of Milledgeville, GA, Vincent (Yvonne) Simmons of Stockbridge, GA; two sisters-in-law, Valerie (Tony) Murray, Teronica Simmons; brother-in-law, Rennie Hill; one aunt, Udene Byrd of Mt. Vernon, GA; three grandchildren, Torico Simmons, Jr., Tanganyka Winkfield, Tyreon Simmons; a host of cousins, relatives and good friends; two special friends, Debra May and Rosa Mae Reeves.
