Carlos Lutroy Adams was born on December 11, 1967, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Betty Jean Adams and the late Jessie Smith. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Cedecki Stephens, and his father-in-law, Charles Lee.

Carlos was a proud 1986 graduate of Baldwin High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Army beginning in 1987. Following his service, he worked as a Juvenile Correctional Officer at YDC, where his discipline, compassion, and mentorship touched the lives of many.

Carlos had a lifelong passion for sports, family, friends, and fast cars. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and cheering for his favorite team, the Detroit Lions. He was known for his humor, loyalty, and big heart - a man who stood firm in his values and brought joy to everyone around him. He was a faithful member of Faith Christian Church, where his spirit and fellowship will be deeply missed.

Carlos leaves behind his loving wife, Joyce Lee Adams; his devoted daughter, Tiashae Adams; his beloved stepdaughters, Shalavicia Lee and Jameena Lee. He was a proud grandfather to Charslyi Adams and Erison (“Budda”) Adams, who were the light of his life.

He also leaves to cherish his memory: mother-in-law, Ida Lee; brother, Jamel Cooper; half-sisters, Collette Smith and Justina Smith; half-brother, Jessie Smith; sister-in-law, Shirley Ann Lee Young; best friend, Jerome Saulsbury; nieces, Jade Stephens, Jameria Cooper, and Camille Cooper; nephew, Jamel Cooper Jr.; aunts, Mary (Ulysses) Bridges of Detroit, Michigan, Olivia Davis of Covington, Georgia and Delois (Lee) Jackson of Milledgeville, Georgia; uncle, Charlie Adams of Milledgeville, Georgia. Carlos is also survived by a host of cousins, extended family, and close friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
